Is Trump too good to be true or will he save America?

I have never been a big fan of Donald Trump, but if he can cash the check his mouth has written, I might cheer him on. He says the kind of things that many Americans already feel. Let’s send the United Nations packing along with all their hypocritical, self-righteous BS where they belong, to some third world, disease ridden country. There would not be a UN without America’s checkbook. After all, the more we pay, the more they ridicule us.

China and all of their communist, crap laden products can go to hell. We don’t need them anymore than we need oil from the radical, Islamist regimes. There isn’t anything America can’t produce that we need. True Americans have always believed in our country’s “exceptionalism”. We are the greatest nation in the history of the world. Unlike, our “campaigner- in-chief” Obama, we never apologize for our greatness. Trump may have suffered from egotism and buffoonery in the past, but I haven’t heard any of the potential presidential candidates cut through the BS like he has. Political correctness has been the most dangerous disease America has ever suffered. A spade is a spade, the kettle is black, and the biggest racists in this country are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

America needs a leader that will stand up and tell other countries that charity begins at home. If the Arab League needs our protection from one of their despot regimes, we take US currency. Trump said it straight when he said Iraq should be giving us cheap oil. He reminds me of the way Teddy Roosevelt handled America’s critics. The reason America is great, is because we are. If Trump is sincere in what he is telling us, then I say it’s about time.....

In The America We Deserve, Trump proposed a one-time 14.25 percent tax on individuals and trusts “with a net worth of over $10 million.” He predicted that it would raise $5.7 trillion, “which we would use to pay off the national debt” and pay for Social Security.

I believe part of that plan was that those who paid the tax would not be subject to estate taxes. Good deal for both. I’ll bet those impacted by his plan would like it.

Not saying I agree with Trump’s proposal... but there’s nothing wrong with higher taxes when you’re fighting three wars. Sometimes common sense trumps ideology.

Well I agree with you... but since that’s not happening right now, we have to pay for the ones we are fighting. Call me crazy.

But to be frank, hardly anyone on FR seemed to mind those wars when George Bush was in charge (even at the risk of being banned for criticizing them). Call me honest.

In fact, Trump’s being criticized on FR now for criticizing those wars, and Bush the idiot, then. So the rule is: “Obama’s wars bad; Bush’s wars good.” Color me skeptical.

China and all of their communist, crap laden products can go to hell.

That's as may be, but will Trump tell America that everything they buy at the big box store will go up 2x to 3x as a result?

If he does not say that as well, he's just another panderer promising all gain, no pain.

That’s why I said “not saying I agree with his proposal”... but we did have a huge national debt and the tax was a one-time proposal vs. raising rates.

That said, anyone who thinks we’re going to eliminate a 14+ Trillion dollar debt now by cutting spending alone is smoking some good medical marijuana.

It’s easy to demagogue an issue. It’s a lot harder to put forth a solution... when you do, you’re attacked by the ideologues. As Trump and Paul Ryan have learned.

Which is also going to be made more difficult by Trump’s idea to go to a single payer (government) medical system.
