I’d just use Chrome. But then again I do not plan to use IE9 since it won’t run on XP.
I have always used IE so I upgraded to IE9 right away.
Ar first I didn’t like it, bc I thought features were removed, but they are just hidden. I like to use the same interface I always have. Not sure why MS think people like big changes.
One thing it does for Toshiba Satellites though (at least on Vista) is take a very long time to open. Should check to see if there are any driver updates.
All in all, I like it though.
I like it better than IE8. It sort of reminds me of Firefox.
You will like it. Install it, you will be happy.
I don’t know, but I’ve recently figured out why Firefox is better than IE8. All the information I could find said Firefox is better, but most of what was said had to do with security. Here’s a performance related testimonial.
I’ve used IE8 exclusively up until about 2 weeks ago. From time to time my laptop would just slow to a dying crawl. I had 2 problems, McAfee... it’s garbage, and IE8. I’d run taskmanager and see the two of them just killing my system. I disabled scan on access and now McAfee is tolerable, (it’s provided by work). But IE8 would sometimes just go bonkers. Best I could figure is a memory leak, because it would get worse as the day goes on, and I tend to open and close tabs. I did all I could, and finally just tried Firefox. MUCH better.
IE8 is a pig, and there’s little reason to expect IE9 is better. Go with Firefox. In the past installing add ons into Firefox was a pain, it’s just as easy as IE now.
I always update when it becomes available, then I always get angry because they change the location of all my stuff for absolutely no good reason.
I really like it. Like other posters have said, a lot of the menus are hidden. It opens up your screen a lot. I like having the hidden menus. So yeah, I really like it and would recomend it. At least to try and see if you like it.
I think it renders faster than IE8. I haven’t had any problems yet.
I run it on my Vista and Windows 7 computers. It works Very fast and well so far.
I also use on occasion: Firefox, Chrome, SeaMonkey and Iceweasel. Each has it’s own advantage and disadvantage.
On the whole, and, in my opinion, IE9 is an improvement over the visual and mechanical workings of IE8.
YMMV.
Why do they keep moving the damned reload function? Why with each version does it become harder to tell if a page is still loading? I need an indicator that I can see that tells me that data is still being received or if the page thinks that it is finished loading.
I’ve had some pages freeze with IE 9. No apparent reason why they freeze.
It’s a change.
And it hides how to tell the suggested sites toolbars to get out of your face.
Don’t do it! I did it, and it’s not worth it. You will do better with Firefox 4 and/or Google Chrome. Both really fast Browsers that use HTML 5 (the future of browsers that no longer require Adobe Flash Player). Flash Player in the past eats up your memory. vs HTML 5 that does not and you can do a lot more.
You can go to YouTube and type in the blank field, “compare Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer”. It will show you what you are looking for. Good luck!
You mean other than being a hacker magnet?
I’m on Windows 7 on an upgrade from Vista. I’m happy with IE9. Seems quicker. I like some of the new features including the Pin feature. I rarely get a IE stopped working notification. With it and an e-mail program running I am using only 42% of my 2038 MB memory.
So far so good...... Looks like they have condensed the controls and there is more space for the website. I like that a lot....
