To think that there is a link between the breast and the prostate...if I were only slightly less couuth, I’d have a ribald joke here...but I’m above that. :{)

There actually is a link. If you break it down to function both are secretory glands. When they grow cancer, it is usually adenocarcinoma. (gland+cancer) Adenocarcinoma or the breast and adenocarcinoma of the prostate both have receptors for sex hormones, albeit different ones. Breast often has receptors for estrogen and progesterone and prostate for testosterone.

Treatments for both often depend on interrupting the influence of sex hormone stimulation on tumor growth. Antiestrogens in breast and gonadotropin releasing hormone antagonists in prostate.
