I wonder how many people who complain about the GOP have ever been to a local meeting? How many have ever volunteered to help a candidate?
I for one am not checking out despite being equally frustrated. I want my kids to have a good country to live in.
Not sure about your timing on dropping out, but part of your reasoning is logical. I’m sure the GOP elites will do all they can to insure a RINO becomes the candidate. That’s a given, though I won’t say it’s inevitable. At least not this early in the game.
I agree, however, that the long knives will come out here on FR, and we’ll be infiltrated as never before by RINO shills trying to disrupt our community and sew controversy among us. Heck, it’s a daily thing as it is. But, does this mean we just roll over? Not on my watch. I’m here because I care, and I can’t/won’t let them get away with it if I can help it.
Lastly, I agree this will be an election for the ages. Mean, dirty, corrupt and much of it unreported because of the MSM being in the tank, and the GOP (the ones noted above) not having the gonads to fight. But again, isn’t that why the Tea Party developed? Aren’t we Americans supposedly fed up with the way this country has changed? Yes to both, IMO. The one thing your missing here is just how riled the country is at this point in time, and just how firm their resolve becomes between now and the election. Most of that resolve will likely come from Obama’s continued assault on this country between now and then, and his continued apathy for the economy, health care or [insert issue here]. But a good deal of it will come through frustration that our elected members are hopeless, helpless and inadequate. I think this is the one thing that keeps me hopeful.
Take care, good luck, and see you after the storm.
Nailed it...

That is so true, but it does not mean he won’t be right about some things from time to time. And like it or not, he’s right about this. Reality sucks sometimes. Doesn’t change the fact it’s reality.
See you next week Scythian:) ((((((Hugs))))))
With the kind of talent that Scyth has, I am surprised that one these PREZ candidates hasn’t hired him onto their top staff ... at $800/day. The inhumanity of it all.
Rove is an insider, and he will bad mouth anyone who threatens business as usual. Yes he knows politics but has seriously underestimated how tired the majority of Americans are with this.
His bad mouthing of Palin and the Tea Party are a sign of desperation. He supports Romney who doesn’t have a chance in any kind of fair election. Therefor he must subvert the process, which is how Mclame got the nomination last time.
While it takes nerve and guts and courage and maybe even gonads to fight the Rovians, you can do it. You make some good points. It’s going to be an interesting two years, and you are definitely among likemindeds. So stay.
The very funny thing is that even the Perotian feArs could be wrong, this is different, Clinton I is not the known Obama.
And it’s only April 2011. You would have to stay away nearly two years. You won’t want to.
Stay and fight. You are not alone.

We’re doomed! Why bother fighting? Much better to just surrender now and let it be done with. /sarc

Whatever it is, she's awfully talented, don't you think?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha..* snort *....
Ironic.
In that case, Zero better get the troops home from his three wars.
I am for that too. But fear it may be too late and the GOP is never going to be the vehicle. I will help Ron Paul again just for the fun of it.
Scythian,
I hope you rethink on this issue. It’s like your dropping
your guns on the battle field and saying I’ll be back later.
We can start by calling it the “First American Party”
not a 3rd Party. It needs to be repackaged.
There are 40 other parties why do we need another third party for you dopes..
Because this one is the one that will change everything to utopia
Because Iowa and South Carolina GOP primary voters are so liberal right?
If a RINO like Romney gets the nomination it will most likely be because movement conservatives and Tea Party folks split their vote.
2) A true Conservative Tea Party Candidate will have to run under the Tea Party label to be elected. The Rovites will be on the FR in droves stating "That a vote for a 3rd party is a vote for a Democrat" again. Sadly, most Freepers will fall for it and vote for the RINO despite all the big talk.
It doesn't take a "Roveite" to see that splitting the anti-Obama vote between 2 political party's when the left is not splitting their vote will most certainly result in an Obama victory. Are you already forgetting Ross Perot in 92' and 96'?
This sounds like a bunch of QQ that people won't buy into your 3rd party candidate ideas.
3) In the meantime, the forums are going to get ugly, I mean real "mad dog" ugly. As many as 1/3 of more of the people posting will be hired guns, here to disrupt and tell Freepers which candidates cannot be elected. You'll know who they are if pay attention.
Yes, people will debate the pluses and minuses of the various candidates. So what? That is healthy. And pushing 3rd party bids is just plain self defeating, so yes, the people who do that are going to get criticized for effectively advocating another 4 years of Obama. This has the sound of someone who likes a vanity candidate like Trump and is angry about getting pushback from others.
4) This will be most the most vicious, corrupt election ever, marred by violence in many cases, and lies so outlandish coming from the MSM it will seem unbelievable that anybody could fall for it, yet they will. Voter fraud will be extremely high, and much of Obama's campaign money will come from overseas as he will again turn off the AVS check on his donation system so that the money "literally cannot be tracked" just as was done in 2010.
At little over the top, but yeah, this is going to get nasty - which is why we need every conservative, Republican, Tea Party activist, etc, working as a team to get rid of Hussein.
5) Many Freepers will fall on their swords, come unglued, and be beside themselves on the events that are about to unfold, it will be too much for them to handle. Moderators will have their hands full.
The nominating process is always ugly. It will naturally be even uglier if we end up with a bunch of people advocating 3rd party if they don't get their way. These will be people who can't even remember as far back as Perot to see what a disaster 3rd party presidential bids are.
That is all, end communication, see you after the 2012 elections folks. I'm in a good spot, don't plan to argue or worry over the election at all, it is what it is. I'd share my thoughts on who will end up winning but no need to bring everyone down. I'm going to go enjoy my summer, family, and drop out until after the election. I'll vote, you can bet out that.
Bet you won't drop out. You'll be back. Sounds like you may just be frustrated at the moment.
