If the detector is sophisticated enough, it may be running a self diagnostic and finding a problem. Try cleaning out the detector, especially the interior with the photoeye and mirror, with canned air. Keep the nozzle or straw of the canned air a few inches away from the detector as putting it too close can actually damage some parts.
