We had gone to Boone on Friday for the open house at Appalachian State (I have a high school junior). It started torrentially raining Friday night, all night and was very, very windy. Same thing on Saturday morning except it was like a hurricane. They had flash flooding in the area. By the time we were finished touring the campus and ready to head back home, it was blue sky and dry roads but very, very windy still. We followed the storm east until just west of Derm and Chapel Hell where we drove into rain. We got home about 45 min after the tornadoes went through Raleigh. There was no damage in my area (NW Wake County) but lots of tree debris and yellow insulation everywhere. Still wonder where all that insulation came from. I’m about 5-7 miles from NCSU, west of I-40.

I’m very close to Creedmoor Rd and 540, and there is insulation EVERYWHERE....Its like the tornado hit an insulation factory or something...LOL. Lots of chunks of foam as well. Found two 4 x 8 sheets of tin roof in our neighborhood....Unreal...We have LOTS of trees in our yard, but thankfully only lost a couple of limbs....
