Part of me really likes this show. Basically, you have government bureaucracies (schools) telling you what is healthy (which is usually crap) and bullying anyone who complains. You have Oliver, who basically represents the private sector, coming in and showing how it can be done cheaper and better. Instead of learning, the LA school district in this comes off as almost mafia like punks and nannies - a perfect example of liberal government run amok.
Now, yes, he is going over the top when he goes after private businesses. He doesn’t see that people have a choice not to go to these places- unlike schools where kids and parents don’t have a choice.
There also was a great bump to home schoolers in this show. He had a lot of kids bring what they have for lunch, usually all crap, and the two kids who had good meals they said “we homeschool” and Oliver said something like “homeschool, well of course you have better food”.
