Just thought it might be a good time for another Netflix 'Watch Anytime' round up of suggestions by FR members. My new few are:
'Tripoli' 'Eureka' 'Medium' 'All creatures Great and Small'
Forgot to add:
Firefly (if you’ve never seen it, you really ought to)
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (quirky, short, off-beat musical made by Joss Wheadon [and friends] starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fallon)
“The Middleman” (”Monster Hunters Inc” meets comic book — short series, but cute)
“Corner Gas” (but you already got that suggestion?)
“Wonder Falls” (the same people went on to make “Pushing Daisies”)
(heck, add “Pushing Daisies” if it’s on DVD yet)
“Dead Like Me”
And just let me add: ABC, release Vengeance Unlimited on DVD, DAMMIT!
Given your choices, may I recommend some of the darker anime series:
Darker than Black (crackerjack plots and characters, very violent, however)
Cowboy Bebop (brilliant music, animation can be superb, subtle comedy, very downbeat overall)
Moribito (best plotline of an anime I ever saw)
Last Exile (best overall animation. great begin, even better ending, middle so/so)
I had great hopes for Spice and Wolf because it was built on authentic monetarism placed in a late medieval European setting. However, the church became a whipping boy, the two main characters got into a ridiculous romantic plot and the originally-suggested ending never even occurred. Oh well...
Most of the anime is streaming. Sadly some of my faves are not: Ballykissangel, Life on Mars (BBC version ONLY), Brisco County Jr. (Bruce Campbell's only starring vehicle, written by Carlton Cuse) and Spaced (Simon Pegg). All are on DVD at NetFlix, though, so that's good.

My favorite movie is on there. Against all Odds. It’s got everything: pro football, beautiful tropics, and sex in the jungle paradise, dirty lawyers, brilliant car chase scene with great cars on the best street in the world to race, sunset blvd, one of the stars is my hometown, west l.a., some wonderful lines of dialogue (”most people wait their whole lives to be loved like that.”), double-crossing friends, hiding a murder, racism, and one of the best actors in one of his best, most complex roles, very understated and touching: James Woods.
Oh, and the song written for the movie plays at the end and is actually written for that wordless, emotional scene. Great, great scene.
Absolutely not. I’ve seen a couple of films he’s been in as well. But he brought Sherlock Holmes to life like no one else has.
The Rape of Europa
Documentary of how the Nazi’s destroyed the art and architecture of Europe and what the people did to try to save the priceless masterpieces.
Excellent movie.
Beautiful, unique animation with Celtic style.
Good for kids but I was mesmerized as an adult. Lovely music too.
Just finished watching Lost. I think around 120 episodes. I can’t believe how addicted I got to the show.
Cute movie about the early days of the California Napa Valley wine industry.
