FED UP AND NEED TO VENT ABOUT ACADEMIC SOCIALIST INDOCTRINATION
My fevered brain | 4/10/2011 | An Angry Conservative

Posted on 04/11/2011 7:25:34 AM PDT by madmominct

I am steaming mad at the moment. I am starting a new course at at online university on marriage and family issues and just read the first chapter of the text, a book called "The Expanded Family Life Cycle" by McGoldrick, Carter and Garcia-Preto. This is not my first course at this institution, and in the past couple of years I have been subject to the socialist agenda that permeates the texts of all the courses, but this particular one is really blatant. Here are a sampling of its views:

"But it is important to realize that sexism, classism, racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, and other prejudices are problems of the privileged groups, not of the oppressed, who suffer from the problems. Therefore, we need to find ways, whether the issues are part of the presenting problem or not, to raise the issue of racism with Whites, sexism with men, classism with the well-to-do, homophobia with heterosexuals, and anti-Semitism with Christians. These are the groups who must change to resolve the problem."

"Community-level interventions have been recognized as essential within the social work field for more than 100 years....Unfortunately, the capitalistic, me-first, "not in my back yard" dismantling of communities and community services that has been going on since the 1970s had far-reaching implications in terms of making the rich richer and the poor poorer."

These are just 2 examples of the socialist propaganda that permeates this book and the all of the textbooks in my courses. I am pursuing an MA in counseling at a reputable online university. I know this bs is not unusual, but I am so fed up with it I just don't know how I can get through this course without having fights with my professor and my classmates, who are generally younger and dutifully parrot back this crap.

So I just wanted to vent and would MOST appreciate some good arguments to bolster the conservative viewpoint. I may call on you guys from time to time as I am confronted with combating this insanity. I know I need to brush up on my Milton Friedman, for starters.

Thank you guys for listening....I feel a little better.

In what are you majoring? I got an engineering degree a few years back and never had to sit through this sort of thing.

You're gonna love this.

"We Are One" teacher's toolkit going out to highschools and colleges.

Teachers Toolkit (pdf)

Included in the toolkit is this "student pledge form"

AS A STUDENT who believes in acting collectively and who supports workers’ right to bargain for good jobs and a better life, I am interested in doing one or more of the following (please check all that apply):

I want to connect with the union movement on my campus or in my community.

I want to help organize a teach-in like today’s for others on my campus or on a different campus.

I want to support workers’ organizing and collective bargaining struggles on my campus and in my community.

I want to learn about the AFL-CIO’s Organizing Institute programs. Please e-mail me information.

I would like to become a member of Working America, the community and student affiliate of the AFL-CIO. (www.workingamerica.org)

I would like to talk to someone about becoming an organizer for Working America.

I was almost thrown out of a degree seeking on-line economics course. I supported Wal-Mart. One of the students said that her friend, who had an advanced degree, was forced to take a $12/hour Wal-Mart job. She groused that Wal-Mart should pay her friend more since her friend had a degree. I said, no, if your friend applied for and took a $12/hour job, that’s what her time is worth to Wal-Mart.

After about 100 exchanges, I was notified by the instructor that, due to complaints, I would be kicked out of the class if I didn’t tone down my insensitivity.

Sounds like a target rich environment to me.

I say enjoy it. God put a fighting spirit in us for a reason.

Congratulations to you in that at least you are reading the texts critically.

You should realize, and don’t be afraid to tell others - you are being taught a course in Theology. Yes, this is the Theology of the Left. Basic tenets, like racism of whites, are the dogma that must be accepted on faith as true by this religion. If you don’t accept these basic doctrine, the rest of the Faith doesn’t work.

You will also find the group-think among these leftist professors as strong and as undiluted as any belief-system anywhere.

My husband has his MA in Counseling, and getting through the program with all of their leftist dogma was brutal. By the time he graduated everyone knew that he was a Christian, pro-life, concealed-weapon carrying conservative. Even though he ended up with an A in every class all through his program, it is still a miracle to me that they let him graduate. Other Christians have not been so lucky, and have been denied their degree based on their beliefs...the left have taken over the education and professional organizations for counselors. You just have to get through it then do your own thing.

White, Christian, heterosexual male, conservative, NRA members are responsible for all the world’s social problems. That’s a given. /s

These students are going to be stepping out into the real world someday. They'll then realize the fairy tale world of the NEA was nothing but a horrible nightmare. Once they become tax slaves for the left wing parasites themselves, they'll understand the things we already know.

It's those darn "rich, white, straight, Christian males" that are to blame for all the world's ills!
Straight from the Marxist handbook.

If I were to work on an online degree with ANYTHING to do with Marriage and Family, I’d look into a conservative Christian university that offered a Human Ecology (Home Economics)Degree OR a class that was offered at a university in a more conservative state.

A person would really have to research the state institutions and check out the faculty. Sorry to say, Hillsdale College (great conservative private institution) does not have such an offering.

“Due to complaints.” Therefore you are not allowed to voice your opinion because it upsets (i.e. challenges) the leftist views of others. Typical of the left - they are continually like the little kid with hands over ears yelling “la-la-la-la!” It’s their religion.

You’re right. From my first post this week I intend to establish my viewpoint, in an intelligent, respectful way. And that’s the stance I’ll take throughout the course. If I get punished via the grading I’ll protest. I’m paying for this school and there’s no reason I have to spout their socialist agenda in order to be a good counselor. I just might need to consult my peeps here at FR to help me with my counter arguments once in awhile!

No wonder they're shooting each other or killing themselves. They're being taught a left wing fantasy in class, but after class they're back into the real world. They're ungrounded. They have no idea what's real anymore.

I love it....I may well use that. A Theology course...these ARE the basic tenets of the Left. Whites bad, all minorities virtuous, Christianity abusive, Abortion good, etc etc Yes, I won’t start with that, but may end up using it if things get ugly...

Kudos to your husband - he’s going to be my role model. I’m going to stake out my ground early on and express my opinions. Bring out “Liberty and Tyranny”, all of Milton Friedman, Coulter’s “How to Argue with a Liberal” and Thomas Sowell and Larry Elder. And of course my homies at FR...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A course in Theology? Hm?....This is a very good way to state the foundational problem from which every this else is generated.

Marxists, communists, liberals, progressives, fascists, and leftists ( all the same, really) believe in the perfectibility of man through the force of government.

I usually post on K-12 issues. One of the points that I continually try to stress is that there can never be a religiously, politically, or culturally neutral education. It is impossible! It is axiomatic. For these reason government should get out of the education business, completely, on every educational level, and every political level ( federal, state, and local).

Evidently, you are overwhelmed by the number of students and your professor who hold Marxist religious beliefs.

If your on-line class were filled to the brim with students who could defend their Judeo-Christian beliefs and our nation's founding principles your professor would wither before their righteousness.

Conservatives! If you wish to save our nation then we MUST MUST MUST shut down our socialist, collectivist-run, voter mob dominated, government schools! We MUST MUST MUST see that every child in this nation has access to a conservative and private education. This conservative and private education must thoroughly integrate the child's specific Judeo Christian belief and our nation's founding principles into every minute of their education day!

If we were to do this, soon our colleges and universities will be filled with students who were capable of standing up to their Marxist professors. Christian and Jewish clubs and fraternities would thrive on campus. Soon these students would be replacing their Marxist professors and taking leadership roles in the culture. We could turn this nation around.
