Need help with Internet Explorer 9
Self | An American In Turkiye

Need some Freeper help from any computer folks please.

Last night I received a prompt to upgrade to Internet Explorer 9. I did, and this new version SUCKS! The swapped the favorites and home buttons to the right side of the screen, and my toolbars are now gone.

I want to go back to my old one, but can't remember if I had 8 or 7. I run Vista. Is it just a matter of downloading and installing IE 8 or 9? Any help would be appreciated, and no, I am not a computer geek, and I admit, I am a computer idiot, so please keep the jokes to a minimum. But I can take them nonetheless!

Ahh! Incirlik! When I was there there was a woman behind every pine tree. I was TDY 30 days there for a total of 18 months. Loaded Nukes at the end of the runway among other things.

Just go back in time with system restore. I found I didn’t like #9 either.

system restore?

The last ditch attempt to fix any computer problem. Has almost always worked for me.

Get google chrome, fastest browser out there.

Another good alternative is Firefox. You can customize it to fit your needs.

I used firefox for awhile and found that chrome works better and faster. The pages load considerable faster. After using firefox for awhile it would began to get bogged down and sluggish.

Firefox 4 has never been sluggish for me. Have you used that version?

No I haven’t, I’ll have to try it. Mine is version 1.9.2.3989
Google has always loaded faster than anything else I’ve tried but, I will update my firefox tomorrow and see how it goes :)

There is no “Search Box” present in the “top right” of the Address Bar. According to MS, it was designed that way, and does not work with 64 bit Windows 7 & Google as the search provider.
Oh, I remember that search box. I am just wondering why you are missing it since you can simply type your search expression into the address bar in IE9 and hit enter. If you configure it that way (which I did), it will also use Google for searching.

Searching from the address bar can be a security problem, and a good was to get “Malware”. Search from the search box allows you to view the result items before going to the sites.

When I search for something via the address bar, Inter Explorer navigates to Google’s website, showing the search results. I do not see any possible security hole there.

I understand what you are saying, it is just a personal preference for me. Plus address bar searchs are cached.
