Congratulations House Speaker John Boehner

Congratulations House Speaker John Boehner, thank you and my respect for you has grown so much in this one night. You did the stand up job, you are the man and I am willing to say so and take the jibes from those who say it isn’t so. I say Thanks again, this is the first step, may be a small step but it was also a big step in mind set and in showing the power of the Republican leadership. When I say my respect for you has jumped in no small way, I really mean it for what it’s worth coming from just another Republican in the Middle Class. For some, they are going to say that someone blinked, that it wasn’t 60 billion, but those who know the score also know that this was a huge victory for Republicans, yes the Tea Party, and the first strike in the battle front that is yet to come and the win was ours. In regards to abortion, it’s already in the wording that tax payer money should not go to pay for that – as the battle moves forward the day of reckoning is coming for the abortionists who take our tax money as well, this is the first step in a bigger battle to come. God bless and continue the great job.

BFD. Howard Kurtz swings by his teeth from the crotch of Obama's underwear. Who cares what he scribbles for the deserted wastelands of newsweak.

... and they were ready to blame the GOP for the shutdown.

David Gergen said the praise would be ‘one hand clapping’ ... I mean, seriously, we are going to credit Obama for the ‘leadership’ of taking 40 days to cut a deal that was $10 billion from the bogey in the HR1 bill passed in the House in feb? Credit for getting the 2011 budget done, A MERE 6 MONTHS LATE?

As far as I can tell, Obama did not in any way accelerate the resolution of this deal. Boehner and Reid could have cut this by themselves.

Sorry, we got nothing. Chump change in spending cuts. Total failure in negotiating skills. They didn’t evaluate their hand, didn’t start with a goal that would achieve anything, showed their hand and then caved out of fear they would be blamed for shutting the government. They also totally ignored that we had won a great victory in WI this week against everything the unions could throw against us and we had the support of the public.

38 billion in cuts in a year with a 1 and a half trillion dollar deficit is nothing. Social and fiscal conservatives have been betrayed and will not forget. Huckabee and Bachmann have shown themselves as no friends of TEA Party conservatives.

Ah, that was your comparison point.
I see.
The 88.5 billion in 2011 budget cuts so far (10 billion in other CR) are , I believe, somewhat less than the increase the Dems pushed through in 2010.

So if you’re a Republican, I guess you’re pleased tonight. If you’re a conservative, you’re not.

Don't worry. I'll let you know when I'm pleased, if I think it's any of your business.

I dunno, a vote where you have 41 pro-abort Dems adamant to filibuster any defunding ... wont go anywhere. That will have to be refought in 2012 budget.

Actually the BIG deal would be to get the EPA regs repealed, and both Houses of Congress have a majority for doing it. We MUST repeal the EPA carbon regs. That could easily get to Obama’s desk.

I am ALL FOR refighting any of these we can in the debt ceiling raise... we need to
1) Rebaseline the federal budget to an 8 year balanced budget in order to allow an increase in the budget.
2) Defund obamacare
3) end the EPA regs
4) pass taxpayer protections

>I agree. Don’t people realize that Reid now has to allow a vote on health care and PP?

That’s BIG. That will put a lot of dims who are up for re-election...in a tight spot.<

Ok, you got me. pls explain...

“He handled these negotiations masterfully, and it was a great plus that the Tea Party was there prodding him on to greater heights, allowing Boehner to do these hard negotiations by saying the Tea Party would have to be agreeable to any deal he made.”

It’s a classic negotiating tactic that you have the ‘sales guy’ say ‘I have to get my manager to approve this’ when you make a car offer ... this is indeed a way to get a better deal. So, yes, it is great the Tea party and new folks in the Hill are holding his feet to the fire.

OTOH, if it is this hard to get Democrats to agree to save a mere $40 billion ... how hard will it be to shave $7 TRILLION off the 10 year spending plan? NOT EASY.

38 billion in cuts? Well that takes care of 3 days of government spending. Now on to bigger and better things like the Ryan budget proposal which has the real meat in it.

There has been no 88.5B in cuts. The 78B they mentioned is a cut from Obama proposed spending, not actual spending.

There are 4-5 dems (if not more) who do not want to take that healthcare vote. That was a major defeat for Reid. It was something he said he would never allow.
In the words of the guy on Fox....Boehner rolled them. The entire panel is sitting there in shock that he got as much as he did. That is why I think Boehner was putting out some false modesty. He knows he ate their lunch.

No abortion funding in DC...no new IRS enforcement for Obamacare...must vote on PP. He set the senate up with the troops.

Even the Washington post chick thinks Boehner manipulated the entire situation and rolled Reid.

Well said, the immaturity of some on this site amazes me. This country is in enough trouble as it is without Dummbo defunding our military because the GOP wouldn’t compromise.

Where the hell do they get off by putting the lives of the very ones who put their lives on the line for each one of us AT RISK (families included)

This was indeed a pretty big win for the Republicans and from what I could stomach watching MSDNC, the left is FURIOUS at Obama tonight.

Well - BO is taking credit for it:

http://tinyurl.com/3g2u79p

But seriously - this whole thing was based on promises made by Obummer and the DEMOCTRATS to actually bring a vote on the Senate floor on ObummerCare and Planned Parenthood. When was the last time the DEMs kept a promise to Republicans?

A really popular question--but shtupid. Ask General Patton, "If you can't take this little German hamlet you're bypassing, what makes you think you can take Bastogne?"
