Are any of these women married? If they want to help needy children, contributing money so that married couples with normal lives could afford to adopt would be really nice. Jane Russell did, as well as adopting children herself (in a stable marriage, with a pretty normal life).

But why the disapproval of single women adopting?
There are plenty of kids to go around, and waiting, especially biracial and special needs.
Any “married couple with a normal life” is free to just go ahead and adopt and not expect a singleton to forego parenthood and pay for theirs as a charitable gesture. If there is a will there is a way financially. Adoptions cost about the same as buying a car. If you can’t afford a car take a bus. If you can’t afford adoption, then foster or volunteer in programs.
