Interesting how many programs know where you are.

Interesting. Looks like Internet Explorer is about the only App that doesn’t give away your location.

I guess it’s useful information. If I’m ordering a pizza it’s nice to find places nearby. If I’m plotting to overthrow tyrants, I guess I’d rather not make it easy to find me. :-)

A place where one places their illustrated personal diary on-line, and they would worry about the GEO LOCATION feature?

Besides, the GEOLOCATION does not give THEM your location down to a few feet. At best, it gives them the city and state.

if I have read the BBC thing correctly....it all depends on Google, intercepting your Mac address,from your router, during the StreetView photo actions....and so Google has your Mac address, and your location from the StreetView activity..seriously doubt Google has the goods on me...as I just installed a new router, with a new Mac address...

Also to note when taking pictures with your smartphone. Most will add geotags to the picture file. To see them, download to your computer and look at the file properties.
