I disagree with your take on America's tastes. America's musical tastes are dictated by independent promoters, 12-year-old girls and commercial interests that have nothing to do with music.

Most Americans have never heard of Charlie Parker (or Samuel Barber). Most Americans think Country Music Radio Stations play country music.

(BTW, I'm a pariah on these threads. Reply to me at risk of your reputation. If you keep posting to me someone will come along and make veiled references to feeding the troll.)

I don't always agree with America's taste, either. Don't understand Katy Perry or Kayne West's popularity, for that matter. However, you made a statement that was presented as fact, when it was really just your opinion. My opinion is the exact opposite of yours. Doesn't make it a fact either.

I happen to believe that David Cook is a much better artist than David Archuleta. Sure, David can sing, but just because someone has a great voice does not make them a great artist, and vice-versa. At least that's my opinion, and your mileage may vary. :-)

I've been around here long enough that I'm not worried about my reputation. If you'll notice, I don't post much, so maybe my motivation was to "feed the troll". (not really, but you never really know, do you?)

Anyway, you wrote something that I disagreed with, and we've had a civil discussion about that disagreement. I'm cool. Hope you are...
