” Yep and it would explain Pauler’s behavior, too. ;)”

After the JLo ,Stephen, Randy PC reviews and lovefest it will be nice to see some Pauler/Simon throwdowns and unrehearsed mind warps.......

That stuff will probably account for 60 % of their ratings/viewership

” I used to think a lot of you on this thread were guys”

It’s also interesting to watch the back and forth exchanges when you know that someone thinks they are addressing a male or female, and it’s really the opposite.

” Keep us posted “

Will do.

It’s been great watching our daughter mature, and have her remember why we always stressed that certain things were important and others trivial , in the grander scheme of life.

My friend got as far as Dallas and his adventure is over. He did get to sing for 18,000 people and had Pepsi backup dancers so it was definitely an experience trying out for the X Factor.

Scotty’s got a lot of character for someone his age. They will work his butt off even more now. If this is meant to be, he’ll be able to keep up w/the maddening pace and become a big star.

American Idol Backstage Report: Randy Travis Weighs In

http://www.tvguide.com/News/American-Idol-Backstage-Report-1033292.aspx

During the Wednesday night re-play of Scotty McCreery’s audition footage, judge Randy Jackson reminded everyone that McCreery is “a country throwback” in the great tradition of Randy Travis. So we decided to give Travis a call, to ask his impressions of the three semi-finalists.

“Scotty, to my ear, sounds almost identical at times to [country star] Josh Turner,” says Travis. “But yeah, a few people have told me he sounded like me. I hear more Josh.”

Is he impressed with the 17-year-old so far? “My reaction to him is like watching someone who has lived on the stage,” says Travis. “It’s like watching a veteran at times. I did not have that or anything like that at his age. I’d sing and then walk off stage. There was no talking to an audience. I was certainly not an entertainer. He seems to have that ability—even at this young age—to go out and talk to an audience. He’s even to the point, entertainment-wise, of moving on stage. He’s a very talented guy. I didn’t have any of that.”

And what about the other country kid, 16-year-old Lauren Alaina, who admits to struggling with the higher notes and sometimes chickens out instead of reaching for them at all? “I’ve heard her get to a high note and cut it off quickly,” says Travis. “To me, that is a smart singer. I’ve seen Reba McEntire walk on stage—and I’ve known her for a lot of years—when I know she’s not 100 percent vocally. And she knows it. And she’s a smart singer. Therefore, she will play it safe, everything in tune.”

“There are those rare people who can walk up and be 100 percent vocally every night,” continues Travis.” One guy, Ray Price, is 84 years old and still does that every night. I don’t get it. I don’t understand it. But to me, Lauren is pretty smart. And as the years go by, and she sings more and more, [she might want to work with] a vocal coach just to learn, from a technical standpoint, how to use the right muscles to access some of the higher register.”

And finally, what does he think of Haley Reinhart? “It’s kind of like I’ve heard Randy Jackson say: There are performances that I’ve seen her do that are just great,” says Travis. “I mean, just great. And then there are performances I’ve seen her do that sound like she’s literally screaming at me. And there have been a few choices where I’ve sat and thought, ‘Oh, no.’ Randy said the true singer can sing anything. And my opinion is, no they can’t.”

Who is his favorite on the show? Turns out it’s James Durbin. “I’m quite envious of where he can go to, vocally,” says Travis. “I love it!”

Producer: Pia Toscano’s Making A “Big, Diva-Sounding Record”

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Pia-Toscano-Debut-Album-1033549.aspx

Hitmaker Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins says he recently spent some time in the studio with celebrated American Idol castoff Pia Toscano, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and the sound of Toscano’s debut record may be no surprise to anyone who witnessed her command of the stage and soaring vocals.

Watch our exclusive interview with Toscano

“It’s a big, diva-sounding record,” relays Darkchild. “It’s what I think I do best — that big Whitney, Mariah, Celine vibe. We’ve having fun with that.”

Jerkins plans to spend even more time working with Toscano this summer, in between stops of the American Idol tour.

He also reports that he’s working on tracks for Lauren Alaina and this season’s winner, Scotty McCreery. “I wrote five country songs last week,” says the producer-songwriter.

Release dates for the Idols’ albums are as yet unknown.

Yeah, lol, you can picture Pia just standing there in the studio stiff as a board, proudly belting at top intensity, left arm occasionally throwing itself out, hair parted exactly in the middle.

And like rap albums come with warnings, hers should too. “playing this at high volumes could cause infertility in men. Please stand at least 4 feet from the speakers.”

‘American Idol’: Haley Reinhart Solo Cut From Finale - Why?

http://entertainment.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979397999

The American Idol finale aired a week ago, and people are still talking about the finale and the top three contestants. Haley Reinhart finished in the top three, and she is on her way to a great musical career. However, fans were not able to see her perform her own solo debut during the finale as originally planned. Apparently, her single debut was dumped off the broadcast of the Idol finale for another performance.

Reinhart recently revealed why her solo performance was cut from the finale. She said the following, according to Digital Spy: “That was going to happen, and then Bono came in and it was taken away.” Bono performed with The Edge for a special performance from the Broadway Spiderman musical. His performance took the slot that had been given to Haley.

Was this one final dig at the singer by the judges and the producers of the series? There had been tension on the series between Reinhart and the powers that be at American Idol, even if those reports were denied. Was this one way for Idol to get the last word in when it came to this contestant? It might certainly look that way, but there is no way to really be sure. What do you think? Should Haley have been given time to perform her own solo during the finale? Would you have wanted to see her debut single performed live?

American Idol: Scotty McCreery’s Big Debut On The Charts!

http://realitytvmagazine.sheknows.com/2011/05/30/american-idol-scotty-mccreerys-big-debut-on-the-charts/

American Idol on FOX‘s season may be over, but now the finalists are hitting the Billboard Charts with their tunes. Winner Scotty McCreery kicks off his debut on the charts with a historic start! Keep reading for all the details!

American Idol season ten winner Scotty McCreery’s new single “I Love You This Big” hit the airways and the charts after his big win last week. We knew the fans loved Scotty and it’s showing as his debut has made history on the Country music charts, which has come in debuting at number 32. According to Billboard, the debut marks the highest for a brand new artist’s first single since the chart converted to BDS data the week of Jan. 20, 1990. Lauren Alaina also debuted on the charts at number 49 with “Like My Mother Does”.

Scotty McCreery could possibly give American Idol their 300th number soon, some are speculating as early as this week. Scotty’s single is topping iTunes at the moment, which indicates a possible debut at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Digital Singles and Country Digital Singles charts. Scotty’s debut single is already off to a better start than Idol’s previous two winners, Lee DeWyze and Kris Allen leaving most speculating that he will do better in album sales as well.
