Don’t let the food stamps statistic fool you. The reason more people are on food stamps is because of expanded eligibility. This is creeping socialism, pure and simple. You don’t need to be starving to get food stamps anymore.
The Democrats believe that this will support and stimulate the economy more that anything the Free Market can muster.

The rising food prices means their food stamps won’t be adequate. Then what? Obama, the Wannabe Dictator, will have to come up with more borrowing.
It is mostly minority handouts for votes. I would have no problem with giving actual basic food to the needy but this is ridiculous. Bring back the soup lines. Hell the Beggars on the streets are making more than social security people.

There is also a more pragmatic reason for expanded eligibility. Affirmative Action college "students", hooked on three free meals daily from HeadStart-K-12 expect the benefits to continue indefinitely, so it has been expanded there. Also, with engineered higher food prices, to keep the feral classes from revolting, the inflation is hidden from them in the form of Section 8, food stamps, energy and utility subsidies et al.
Finally, the expanded eligibility allows formerly two-income households the ability and ease to stay on unemployment for as long as the benefits last. Since the Fe'ral Government is actively encouraging people to stay unemployed, the States aren't seeing normally employable men and women looking for work, rather preferring to stay unemployed and draw down on State budgets which causes the individual States to beg DC for "stimulus money" and any other form of cash to put off the inevitable.
This is an engineered destruction of the united States and this is one of many tools used by them to accomplish their task of destroying a people and their nation.
Go to your local grocery store and just observe. The profile of the foodstamp user will emerge very quickly. Here in the Metro Atlanta area mostly hispanic which means illegal aliens. How are they getting these peachcards you may ask. I think I finally figured it out. They all have 2-3 anchor babies so they run down to family services and get the kid who is a US citizen signed up for benefits. So our new state laws that don’t allow illegals to get welfare is neatly circumvented.
Wonder what percentage amongst these foodstamp entitled citizens can still afford cellphones, autos and designer jeans. Pretty high, according to my daughter, a title 1 elementary school teacher. She says many free lunch parents wear expensive clothes, etc.
