It's difficult to compare the ‘30’s with today. Back then, most Americans were considered Rural and could grow their food and support themselves without much money during hard times.

Today, 75% of the country is Urban and barely have enough food to last a week stored in their homes. They are deeply dependent on their jobs, the Government and the local Government to provide all their needs for them. If even one of these providers goes away, there is nothing left but anarchy and mayhem.

We are in dangerous times where we have never been before. There is nothing to compare it to either.
