A highly venomous Egyptian cobra that went missing at the Bronx Zoo was found Thursday after nearly a week on the lam in the reptile house, zoo officials said.
The approximately 24-inch snake was found coiled in a dark corner of the reptile house, about 200 feet from where it had escaped from a holding cage outside the exhibit into a space described by officials as a labyrinth of pipes and equipment.

So the snake is no longer on the lam. Bet the lam is relieved.

I expected they’d find it doubled in girth in a corner of the mouse house

Not sure, but his exploits might just get him a role in a sequel to ‘Snakes on the Plane’, how about Snakes on the Subway’?

Once it got out and did some grocery shopping, saw the price of gas, did its 2010 taxes and tried to find a job it realized it ain’t so great on the other side of the cage. I think seeing the incoherent Obama Libya speech as it slithered past that big TV in Times Square is what finally convinced it to go back and curl up until 2012.

I wouldn’t expect it got too far. Snakes are homebodies anyway, and especially this time of year. Looking for the nearest quiet heat source to the cage usually works, like a washer or dryer.

In a few years, we should know whether or not it laid 6,000 eggs while it was free.
