You can pretty much frame and use what ever windows you like. One of the suggests is that doors and windows be salvaged from damaged buildings. Flooring and roofing using used pallets. what ever is handy.
a ground tamper
shovels
sand bags (I found bags as low as 29 cents a piece with no shipping on Amazon)
rolls of barbed wire
a few bags of concret mix
plastic sheving
tarps
roofing tar
I saw one thing that would help they use a piece of cut 12” plastic pipe or a bucket to measure the sand, in this way the same amout of sand is placed in each bag.
Here are a few good videos

I most likely will be adding this information to my Preparedness Manual sometime in the near future. The methods used here are simple and fairly standard for such structers. Being able to construct such a stable and quick to build structure could mean the difference between having to live long term in a emergency shelter or being able to house yourself and your family. 500 sand bags a couple rolls of barbed wire and a small roll of bailing wire, a tarp or two and hand tools and a couple days work can quickly give you a secure cozy shelter. Some additional materials would be available through ‘salvage’could allow you to ‘fix’ thing up even better. Knowing how to build such a structure could easily become a ‘barter’ skill that could gain you a ‘income’ of sorts.

There is a lot of interesting information here as well:

Including strenght test, earthquake resistance, buiding to climate tempature and so on.
My apologies to those pinged that donot find this information helpful.
Even the army needs an HQ! :O
“You have a earthquake your house is inhabitable. So you build one of this in your back yard.”
One a recent episode of Flying Wild Alaska a couple was ferried from Fairbanks back to their cabin in ANWR north of the Arctic Circle. The pilot asked them if the tent they had set-up away from the house was for guests to stay in.
“Heck no, that’s a refuge, an insulated tent with a wood stove in it. See all that wood? That’s for if it’s 50 below and the cabin burns down, you got to have some place to go”.
“Small arms isnt going to do well in an artillery and air power duel, and idiots running around armed and out of uniform are going to be assumed to be the enemy by foreward observers of all sides. Godhelp anyone who engages the uniformed forces and then thinks a building is going to protect them.”
So, you think our own armed forces would obey Obama’s order to fire on American civilians?
