Donald Trump made headlines earlier today when he provided what he said was a copy of his birth certificate -- but a quick check reveals it's actually not an official document.
The paper that Trump released says "Jamaica Hospital" on top and lists the date and time of what he says was his birth to "Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Trump." The piece of paper has a seal at the bottom.
But after several New York City-based readers contacted POLITICO's Maggie Haberman, her call to city officials revealed that an actual birth certificate, which is issued by the Department of Health, would have the agency's seal and also a signature of the city registrar - neither of which the Trump document has. Officials said the city Health Department is the "sole issuing authority" of official birth certificates in New York, and that the document would clearly say so, and "city officials said it's not an official document."
It appears instead to be a hospital "certificate of birth," meaning the piece of paper the hospital gave to his family saying he was born. Such a document typically has the signature of the hospital administrator and the attending physician.

Of course he already has a copy of his long form...but you suggest a very good media moment. Invite some of the top names in the media along with him...stroll over...you know a real perp walk!!!! Imagine the camera shot as Trump turns from the clerk, proudly holding up his long form, woopie and BaBa feeling the seal and touching it...and Trump saying, “There, that took what? 5 minutes?”

Have Trump bring up the birther issue, and Politico attack it. Then O has to produce his, but he can't, and will have to step down. Plugs Biden can be beaten by any Dem with a pulse (and a couple without), but HRC would be the front-runner.

I don’t think they do birth announcements in NYC. It’d a a journal of its own, given how many people are born there every day. Families might pay to have an announcement in a loca/neighborhood focused paper. I just don’t know anyone who’s had a kid born in NYC who’s had an announcement published.
Maybe he should have a TV appearance where he demonstrates just how simple it is to go get a copy of your actual, long-form birth certificate.

I believe he did! He's claiming he's been "contemplating" a candidacy. Perhaps he'll say he was trying to hide his Mother's Scottish birth and seeing if the media would mention the disqualifying conditions.

“Trump’s mother, it should be noted, was born in Scotland, which is not part of the United States. His plane is registered in the Bahamas, also a foreign country. This fact pattern — along with the wave of new questions surrounding what he claims is a birth certificate — raises serious questions about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States.”
So if Trump is ineligible because of the birth place of his mother....where does that leave Mr. Son of British/Kenyan national?
So Politico says it right there - where you are born is only part of the equation. Who you are born also matters....per...Politico.

No, he didn't. Unlike Trump, Zero showed a government document. Birthers say it was forged, but, if so, why hasn't Hawaii called him on it? Instead, as James points out, they've basically confirmed its validity.
Either Trump's a total loon, or he's playing some sort of rope-a-dope. We'll have to wait for the other shoe to drop.
I need to go dig it up. It has much more information than the COLB Mom gave me with the seal. The State Department did not accept the COLB for a passport.
Not exactly true. I needed a replacement birth certificate to replace a destroyed original. The document provided me by the County Clerk, is a COLB. It is the ONLY replacement birth certificate available to me from the the official recorder of live births in the county of my birth. Whether they still have the original with the footprint stored in a file somewhere is unknown to me, but the COLB is what I received and have used since then.
I suggested the same thing...it would be gold...and after he shows how easy it was he could say to the assembled media...hey lets go get a passport now...and then go to Pakistan!!!!!

If she was a naturalized citizen, and married to a Natural Born Citizen and Donald was born in NY State, he's qualified as a Natural Born Citizen as best I can tell.

The really sad thing is that is his real hair. He has allowed several people to verify that fact on TV. I don’t even get the comb over thing, because he has a full head of hair.

Huh, My US Passport was issued to me based on my COLB, which is from the county clerks office where I was born.
OrTrump could produce a cab driver who claims to have known Donalds parents and that is proof he was born in New York!
