A friend of mine said I "needed" a Facebook account over a year ago, so I tried it out. So I tried it out and found that most people talked about their inane daily activities. Who cares if they are waiting in an airport or doing laundry? Does anyone else hate being connected all of the time? Not to mention the fact that you will be contacted by people you do not want to hear from anymore. And you must respond. Reject them, or just ignore them. Either way, it is awkward.
If you want to talk about something, start a blog.
If you want to contact me, email me.
I still do not understand the fascination with Facebook (or Twitter)...... and I am someone who grew up in a computer.
Was curious how many other people tried it but dumped it. W
What’s wrong with simply clicking “Hide all Farmville(or all Zynga) posts”?
Most people look horrible anyway in pictures as it doesn't capture their personality or anything. It is mostly phoniness or unattractive people that clearly aren't so good looking they are paid to model.
People are insanely self centered and it bores me. i can see why native american freaked out about pictures taking their souls.
I come from a large family that has taken pictures all over my life. There is not a non event that they all don't take copious pictures of and have to share, share, share. WHat a waste of time and energy. I quit going home when I got tired of having cameras shoved in my face 24/7 when I visited. Just wanted to visit and go away undocumented thank you.
I will never understand.
I got a club card and never filled out the information. Works fine.
i think you just became the only reason i would ever consider joining FB. lol. great sense of humor Allegra :-).
Sorry, that's much too quick and effective.
That's just not how I roll.

Thank You
I’ve never had an FB account. Wife and daughter do to keep in touch with friends and post pictures of various events.
BTW, how long did you live in this computer of yours?
It's really not unlike anything else you may get into. Free Republic has it's quirks and if you say the wrong thing, you will get a knock on your door from some nice gentlemen wearing dark sunglasses and funny hearing aides. You also learn what Freepers are harmless and who the idiots are.
As far as e-mail, heck, I have a sister-in-law that forwards every good luck chain letter e-mail that comes through her inbox and get inundated with all the popular e-mail jokes with the topic du jour. I also have to put up with my inbox filling up with pictures of all their vacations and any other get togethers. Not sure where FB is worse. At least it's not filling up my computer with somebody else's treasured family photos... I don't know, just thinking out loud... ;-)
BTW, Early on, my kids (one in college, one graduated) made me swear that I would not try and “friend” them or tag them in any pictures. I had no problem agreeing with that. Also, I have not (nor will I ever) “friend” a family member. I have told them all, I use FB to get and stay in touch with old friends and a few current friends. I have also learned who to block or what specific applications to block... it’s taken a while but I’m figuring it out.
Facebook=meh + tracking.
I am into tech too, but I tend to be most available on YIM (and now that M$ owns it, M$Mess). At least there I am less likely to be displaying thoughts to bloody well everyone on the planet. messenger, chat, phone, vid phone, file transfer, and txt to cell phones... That’s all I need.
never understood the facebook/myspace thing...
LOL.
If you had a smartphone with a facebook app, you could have taken and posted pics of the party at the exact moment you took them and others at the party with smartphones with the facebook app could view the pics of the party on facebook while still at the party.
Thanks to FB I was reunited with my long lost half sister Oprah, and she gave me a new car. :-)
Wouldn’t touch FB with a 10 gig pole.
There are actually many privacy features on FB. The problem is that too many people don’t try to figure out how to use them. Of course, this does require reading the instructions. Maybe that’s part of the problem.
Here are a few examples. You can change settings so you only show up when people on your friends list search for you. You can designate who can send you friend requests and messages. You can make it so certain things are viewable only to certain people. You can remove the tag from photos people have tagged you in. You can set different levels of privacy on your own photos.
LOL!
When I go out and see that, it is incredibly sad to watch.
Everyone is trying to be somewhere else.
LOL.....saw that typo after I hit submit last night.
