NEW ORLEANS - Florida survived a 32-point night by BYU's Jimmer Fredette for a thrilling 83-74 overtime victory in the Southeast Regional semifinal on Thursday in New Orleans.

Fredette only 3 of 15 from the 3-point range.
The supposed more disciplined Cougars made about twice as many fouls...including a couple of technicals.
(So much for "gods-in-embryo," eh?)
Threads concerning the outcome of the NCAA BB is in La-La land for me...
Meanwhile Kemba Walker and the UConn Huskies run their tournament winning streak this season to 11-0 GO UCONN!!!!!!

Good win for the Gators. I think their overall physical size advantage wore down the Y. The Coogs can match with speed and some height...but the Gators are just a bit more physical
I stopped rooting for BYU when their owners, the LDS Church, pushed through the Utah ‘guest worker’ amnesty law.
Only one technical and I was surprised how well BYU held up against my Gators. Alex Tyus’ monster 19 points and 17 rebounds were the difference.
This has been an interesting March Madness indeed. Even my UConn Huskies men look very, very GOOD right now and they could very well end up in the final four after tomorrow.
I would not be surprised if UConn me get into the Final Four and take down another number 1 seed. This must be making both OSU and Kansas very nervous.
With Duke gone, it is very possible.
Fantastic win for the Mighty Gators. Re-match from last year’s double overtime loss. Coach Billy Donovan really earned that Coach Of The Year honor from the SEC this year. Amazing that it’s the first time he’s won it.
This team looked like a .500 team in December and Billy cajoled, instructed, motivated them into a real TEAM.
And now we can all tune in to ESPN and NOT hear about the BYU Jimmers.
It’s looking a lot like 2006, everything is breaking their way. Every game a different player comes through.
I predict a UK upset of Ohio State.
I also predict UF will meet FSU in the Semifinal in Houston.
This year has firmly established Donovan as an elite coach, with the Coach Ks.
Florida is one game away from their fourth Final Four in 11 years. Not bad for a “football school.”
Last year a lot of Gator faithful were calling for Donovan to be gone, what the hell were they thinking?
They should name the bleeding O’Dome after the guy.
Yes, very similar to ‘06. A matchup with FSU would be more icing. I was hoping to get to play Wisconsin so the Gators could beat them and shut my friend up who happens to be a fan. He bashes the SEC and the Gators all the time, but it’s in good fun.
Anywho, i wouldn’t have believed this was possible back in Dec. and a rematch with either UK or THEOHIOSTATE would be epic.
Casual fans of hoops I guess. Like a lot of top progams, the coach is everything at FL. Even Duke would suffer without coach K. I remember years ago when he was not coaching due to a bad back and they stunk it up for awhile.
Billy D is the man and i hope he's at UF for at least another decade. You've got to enjoy and "be in the moment" just like he preaches, and that is what I'm doing.
I sense more like 2004, when both UConn men and women both won championships. That was a FUN year! :)=^..^=
I am just shocked that Duke went down last night. But then again, it will make it easier for Connecticut to win the next round.
Reminds me of all the problems Coach Jim Calhoun goes through, yet for each problem, he comes back stronger.
Nah the best year was when we won both the football and basketball championships.
THAT will never be done again.
I also love the fact that after all of the talk about how bad the SEC was and how great the Big East was, it turned out that the two conferences had the exact same number of teams in the Sweet Sixteen.
BTW looks like Bama, and Coach Grant, is going to win the NIT, for what that’s worth.
