>>I have fired several Nagants, and they are utter garbage compared to the M21, M24 and M40 SWS’s. <<

I know they aren’t as pretty as a Holland and Holland but would you care to step out in front of one, say at oh 500 yards and we’ll see whether they are utter garbage?

You are aware that the majority of sniper shots take place past 500m, and up to 1000m with the 7.62mm up to 1500m with the .50 cal? I completed the US Army's sniper school in 1996. I was required to 8/10 at 800m every single year to keep my qual. That is a walk in the park with the M24. I would have been mighty nervous if I had to qual using a Nagant. I have shot several out to 700m +/- and was not at all impressed with the consistency. I am sure it was part rifle and part lousy quality Russian ammunition. I made several shots in Iraq at 900m, and I was supremely confident that my weapon would deliver, and it always did. I punched a lot of Allah tickets with that weapon.

This is not armchair warrior conjecture on my part, it is real world combat experience.

And any marksman worth his salt should be able to hit center of mass on a human at 500yds with IRON SIGHTS. The Marines have to do it at 500 METERS as part of their marksmanship qual. The US Army does it at 300m. And that is with an M16 and a 62gr 5.56mm green tip round.
