According to the dictionary, it is something that meddles or mixes up plans. Evidently Robert Montgomery’s character was a marplot. I remember when Bewitched was a popular tv show in the ‘60s, my mother told me that Elizabeth Montgomery’s father was Robert Montgomery. I had no idea who she was talking about. I suppose he was a very popular actor in the ‘40s.
