All caps?
How nice, I try to be kind to others and give them the opportunity to speak. How about you?
Naaahh...More than likely Michigan.
Prior to the 9.0 monster there was a string of 250 similar 5.0 to 7.2 quakes. I can't YELL loud enough to get public knowledge of this quake storm out. Its really unique and fascinating. Warn your friends to assemble Go Bags, full gas tanks and a have a plan to locate each other and regroup after a disaster and escape unsafe urban locations.

I said nothing that impinged on anyone's opportunity to speak.
Sorry you were offended; my comment was not directed at you at all. It wasn't even directed at Mr. Berkland. It was directed at the usage of the euphemism "maverick", which in scientific circles is a polite way of saying very few of his peers think his ideas are correct.
How many of his articles on these predictions have been submitted, and how many accepted, by any peer-reviewed journals?
Trust me, if someone, anyone, could reliably, accurately, and specifically predict earthquakes -- specifically enough to take action on at a level that saves lives and property, not just "The animals are acting weird" or "California is overdue for The Big One" -- they'd be all over the scientific community, and be a hero to the world already. The fact that this fellow is unknown, after all these years, should tell you something about the word "maverick". That was my point.
Again, sorry that you were offended, as that wasn't my intent.
The ground started shaking about 03/01/11 and hasn't stopped. I saw an earthquake map which updates in real time. It's almost like a countdown to an even more massive collapse as tectonic plates grind together. Let me see if I can find that link. The planets ringing like a church bell!

Look at this map. Its a storm of quakes http://www.japanquakemap.com/
The 80% success rate claim is misleading at best, as Berkland makes predictions covering enormous areas and huge magnitude ranges; he’s mathematically guaranteed to get hits on 1-2 of his predictions per month, through pure dumb luck.
He relies on the innummeracy of his fans, their utter lack of education in statistics and probability, and their lack of understanding of just how many earthquakes of moderate magnitudes there are “normally.”
That’s not an “earthquake storm” that’s a perfectly normal aftershock sequence for a M9.0 megathrust earthquake.
Frankly I’m surprised there haven’t been more LARGE aftershocks.
Please don't ping me to every stupid earthquake thread you post now.
Yeah, we haven't seen anything like it, since, what, 2004 and the Sumatra quake?

Gee, I never knew an earthquake in Japan could wreak so much havoc here in the Philly burbs.
Sorry, bub, but around here Democrats cause a lot more destruction than earthquakes. At least the NE Japanese coast has a good reason to be totally wrecked. They don't have that excuse in North Philly, but the end results look pretty similar to me.
Note - this is meant in no way to disparage sane planning for emergencies - having gas, a bug-out bag and a plan. You should have that in place no matter what disasters potentially lurk in your neighborhood.
No worries, STD, not attacking you. If this activity is unique I think we would be hearing from the scientific community.
Do you enjoy yourself?
How about an online BS detector?

There are always clusters of micro-quakes preceding a larger quake, but who has time to baby sit the list?
P.S. Please don’t put me on any ping list.
THX THX.
His system uses, among other things, a series of radon-monitoring stations along the major-known fault lines, his theory being that radon emissions increase during fault-line stress. After he sounded the warning a week before the last big ones ... and he maximized his PR for it ... he was arrested for spreading panic, and canned from his gov-gig.

After his prediction panned out completely on the money, he was released from jail, but not re-hired! Not to worry, he's selling his predictions to private industry quite successfully.
He has two problems: He is politically incorrect to the max and (2) he' not a seismologist
