Fox & Friends had a report on the other day about two dogs whose owners were unable to take them as they scrambled to higher ground. The dogs (a lab and some other breed) were tied to a shed. Evidently they managed to chew through the tethers and outrun the tsunami. They were reunited with their owners.
When I was a little fella we lived pretty much in the woods.
We had one good-sized dog, probably a sort of shepherd mix, and a small rat terrier type which always wore a harness. They were always allowed to run loose (people thought that was normal back then). One night they didn’t come home, then next day they showed up. It was a couple of days before we realized that the little dog was missing his harness. We figured out that he had gotten hung up somehow, and the big dog had chewed him loose. I would like to think we rewarded him somehow for that display of doggie devotion.
