I haven't seen the Gere movie yet, but everyone says it is great. I have seen Hachikō's statue though and it will bring tears to your eyes that people still bring flowers to it. It has become a symbol of family loyalty there. New couples go there and lay flowers as kind of a blessing that they will stay as loyal as Hachikō.

The movie was certainly worth it, if only for the story. It was slow for me, but I still enjoyed it.

You have my envy, I would love to go to Japan, even now. I would love to help them in person... there must be something I could do to help them clean up, but my health issues give me pause.

I know this must sound crazy, but my wife and I have decided to give it a shot at learning Japanese. I have been thinking about that for over a year, now with all of what’s been going on, I’ve gotten off the fence.

It’s expensive, but I think we will be using Rosetta Stone.

Anyway... get the movie.
