From what we've heard from Lia and some other boy from Jakarta about his behavior, my money is on Lolo got fed up with him and packed his rear back to Hawaii. I doubt there was any concern with Lolo wanting to reclaim him.

But actually I was referring to Obama Senior reclaiming (temporarily) Obama II in 1971.
Stanley Ann was still an Indonesian citizen in 1971. And Obama II was being left with his grandparents in Hawaii in January of 1972. After a month with mom and...daddy who just supposedly happens to be hanging out with his old buddies (Abercrombie) in Hawaii.
So a crippled (he was in a bad car wreck) and almost broke Obama senior just happens to hang around Hawaii for a month while mom and baby are in from Indonesia??? Hmmmm...
How about this. Mom is not a US Citizen...and as you say Lolo is sick of the kid. But grandma and granddad only will take him if the citizenship paperwork is clean. No dual this and dual that. They will be his guardian only if he has clean paperwork. So....
So he needs to give up his Indonesian citizenship that he assumed when he was adopted by Lolo. To do that - you need Obama Senior. Obama Senior can calm Obama II as his and thus terminate Indonesian Citizenship. This is in Indonesian citizenship law - 17.x something....Alien father can reclaim child under 18. So now he is no longer Indonesian...but what is he...he is now Kenyan (the minor son of a Kenyan citizen), oh and he is still British, since he got that at birth and nothing changed that. But at this point he is NOT American. So then Obama senior turns over guardianship to Grandma and Granddad and maybe there is a formal naturalization process (uh oh!) as part of that. Then Indonesian citizen mom can run back to Lolo. And Obama Senior can go back to Kenya without paternal responsibilities.
If you were the Dunhams would you take guardianship of a child with questionable citizenship and whose parents are a flake mom and drunken dad who are both half a world away????
This scenario explains why Obama senior is in Hawaii (possibly on the Dunhams nickle) in December of 1971. He is the conduit to terminate Obama II’s Indonesian citizenship and get him over to the grandparents with clean citizenship status.
This is mostly theory. But it fits the data points.
