U. of Hawaii is what it certainly looks like! And in that case, my guess would be that this occasion was Stanley Ann’s August 1967 completion of university studies - if not a formal graduation ceremony, some sort of notation ceremony. IIRC, in the photo of Barry with his grandparents following his Punahou graduation, he also is wearing a lei. An Islands’ tradition for graduates?

So, then, we can figure that when Barry and his mother flew to Indonesia in Oct. 1967 he was wearing the same gray tie with the long-sleeved white shirt he remembers.

It IS!! They are standing at the middle left part of the U of HI picture. The wall design next to part of a tree, the column behind and the sunny white wall/window all the way back.

No doubt about it.
