I worked with a guy who spent six years in Japan. As he described it....you just don’t see crime or looting in the rural areas of Japan at all. These are a very proud people who don’t allow punks to get out of control typically.

That's what I thought when I watched the news. It also looks like everyone has an innate respect for authority. No one, it appears, took unfair advantage of the situation... no looting, or other crimes seem to be taking place. No one is creating further chaos or is capitalizing on the absence of order and stability.
Very long suffering and stoic. I could cry.

Granted the Russian sailor was meant to die under communism, but he did go to pull those rods out of the reactor bravely to save the crew. The Japanese look helpless i comparison to me.

I suspect they dont have a festering underclass like we do, therfore no looting/riots etc.
