(Photo: Andy Liu) After three nights and nine contestants vying for the title, Tatiyanna Voche, Miss Gay Maryland 2008, crowned Baltimores own Sue Nami Miss Gay Maryland 2009 on Monday, April 20. Both Sue Nami and first alternate Chi Chi Ray Colby will advance to compete in Miss Gay America.
Sue Nami sat down with Dimitria to talk about how it feels to win and what she most looks forward to in her title year.
Welcome Sue Nami! How does it feel to be Miss Gay Maryland?
It feels great! After 3 years of competing for Miss Gay Maryland America, I believe that I have been growing in my professionalism, personality and entertaining. Its so overwhelming and exciting, as I look forward to serving the system and the community.
Im so proud of you! Competing with you was such a pleasure. You were so helpful and friendly, not only to me, but to all the other contestants. What do you have to say about the competition?
Every single contestant brought a great package. They all worked so hard, and I want them to remember, as they prepare for next year, that anyone can win. Consistency is the key to success.
So true! What do you think the hardest part of being Miss Maryland will be?
I would say there isnt a hardest part. Its really all about following the rules and regulations of the system, and serving the community as best I can. I need all the help, support, and love from the community that I can get as I move forward.
Support and love are so important. Now that youve won Miss Gay Maryland, youre off to compete for Miss Gay America. What do you have planned for that?
Im taking all the judges critiques and making all the improvements I can to put together my package.
Do you have any big plans for your reign as Miss Gay Maryland?
Id really like to introduce the America System to the newer members of the community, and encourage newer female impersonators to compete. Also, I would love to help raise money for local charities like the GLCCB.
Finally, what advice do you have for other girls who are preparing for the next round of pageants?
Never stop learning, and never give up. Always follow your dreams, and listen to the right people. Let them guide you in the right direction.
Hey!. Is that DIVINE in the background? Thought he died years ago. Buried with a Pink Flamingo.
Laz . . . would ya?
Punny, indeed. Now it is time for you to recede. I am surprised this thread was not washed away.
Where’s the ‘I’d hit it’ guy?
Did any body see ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil’?
The drag queen, The Lady Chablis, stole the show.
He looks like Madonna and he needs to learn how use the correct color of lip liner.
I think you’ve veered way out of Laz territory (at least I hope so.)
Long time, no see Doug. Funny post..
Every single contestant brought a great package. ...Uh, Ummm. Nope. Not gonna go there....but...
I thought Sue Nami followed Ertha Quaker.
Sue Nami? So where was Eartha Quake?
Homosexuality is a mental illness.
According to the News info babe, the fight started over an argument about who looks best. And it happened at a "taco" shop.
What’s the marriage rate, versus just shacking up, for homosexuals in states that DID legalize it?
looks like a winner on the right. Lifetime award winner, no?
Doug, just what are you doing over at that website and what else is on your reading list?????
Somebody needs to take you out back of the log cabin and give you a whippin......
I Noah what you mean.
