I work for Walmart. The reason the door greeters ask for a receipt is to prevent theft. No one is trying to be intrusive, just trying to make sure there is no theft.

I think what you mean, is more than *prevent* a theft...it is to ingrain the policy that *everyone* is being watched and to make sure Mr. Six-Pack gets the message. ;)
