I feel the same way about O'Reilly. He's so ignorant that he thinks that "assault weapons", which are mostly semi-automatic rifles with pistol grips, are machine guns.

What is your problem with Beck?

Ditto O’Reilly, though I can leave his show running and enjoy some of the guests that O’Reilly actually listens to instead of shouting down (Bernie Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer, Brit Hume).

Re Beck, it’s his style. I heard him regularly when he was on talk radio here (KHVH) in the mid 90s. I enjoyed him a LOT then - he enjoyed sounding seriously convinced of something outlandish but was really yanking the chains of anyone who fell for the schtick. (e.g. insisting John-John Kennedy was still alive and the callers reporting/discussing his death must be thinking about John Denver). He sounds just as sincere on the issues he takes on now - and I can’t get the idea that he’s just doing a prolonged schtick out of my mind.

That, the emotionality, the close-ups beyond my comfort zone (like someone that pulls their face up to within a couple of inches of yours when they converse), and the faux professor motif just rub me the wrong way. I agree with probably half of what he has to say, but the drama queen aspect is off-putting. The whole professorial style when he never actually finished a degree is more schtick or schlock. It makes me skeptical of anything he presents.
