One of the tidbits of sage advice my grandfather instilled in me at a young age was "Never pet the big animals while reaching between the fence rails." Of course, this sage advice came about two seconds too late as one of his soon-to-be-my-dinner steers squished my little hand between it's thick skull and the fence board.
