So, you want government to have above-the-law authority to assassinate anyone they like? That sound like a plan to you?

You don't think that they'd go after conservatives?

As long as they stick to people they like, that would probably be OK with me.

I’m quite aware of the highly dangerous and extra-Constitutional nature of my idea. And, I know it’s a snarky idea to offer on a pro-Constitutional forum just as an idea.

Nevertheless, there are plenty here who cringe at the idea of giving terrorists the “normal” array of Constitutional rights. And secondly, as a hard-assed practical matter, we are moving into an era (visible on a dozen fronts) where we, as a society, simply cannot afford to spend the monetary and personnel resources we once imagined we had. They just ain’t there.

Thus, we are going to have to make some choices, and they are excruciatingly difficult choices. One related one I am dealing with involves end-of-life care for my aging parents, ages 93 & 95. Now I don’t wish to divert into the whole “death panel” discussion in this post, and I strongly reject government diktat as to how much should be spent on them. But s**t, they are consuming massive, massive medical resources! They are lucky, they have the funds to pay for it and they have me to manage it. But a ton of money is being spent to extend their awfully not-fun lives.

Returning to the topic at hand, the gov’t actually does have authority to conduct assassinations. All they have to do is to decline to prosecute the perps. It works in banking and in voter intimidation cases, does it not?

I don’t think Conservatives would be targets, because they wouldn’t be wandering around on the streets with square feet of tattoos, even on their heads and faces flashing gang signs. I think, that a few minutes of video gunsight-footage documenting that type of behavior pre-targeting would qualify a piece of trash for a dusting. Maybe I’m being harsh.
