Funny that you should mention deer...we have a family that has lived inside a grove (?) of blackberry bushes behind my home since before we built the house.
She always has twins, but once had triplets. I met one of them when he/she still had spots and was still wobbly. This young ‘un was very interested in me, coming closer and closer until he/she was within 10 feet. I saw the mama watching intently. I didn’t want the cutie having any kind of human scent...not that I know anything about baby deer...so I shooed it away. I know for a fact that I didn’t want a mad mama deer after me, though. lol
I love watching the babies grow, and I see them more in summer than at anytime.
At our last house, I once had the great pleasure and delight of watching a fawn spend the day at the base of the tree outside the dining room window. What a darling little thing. I kept a close eye on it all day, and mama took it home from my “day care” that evening.
That was great.
Aren’t they precious when they are so tiny? I know how you felt keeping watch over it.
I bet it was great.
Yes, later when the fawns were older, one of them would walk up to the tree and look in the window from time to time. It was used to my being harmless and watching it.
Then its mom would call it, and it would prance away. It was really cool.
