For the past 2 Christmas's my kids have me pretty well set on ammo for the 20 gage and the colt cobra. I won't let them hunt on my property, have lots of deer come around. It would blow their minds if I got one on my property. My granddaughter took my dog for a walk around last year and she found a large 7 point buck dead back by the creek. It looked like it got hit by a car and made it only to the creek. One of my son's came out to cut off the antlers to use when he hunts. He kept mumbling, I wish I had shot this one, he's nice and big......but by the time he cut off the antlers, it was starting to smell and it was only a couple of days after it was found..

PS I am not that informed on all guns, but who is Mr. Kimber?

Last fall I went back there and collected all the skeleton. A large area of the spine was still articulated. They will bleach out fine this summer in the sun...interesting, I even found the small ear bones. 6, 3 on each side. very small and thin...

Like Mr. Colt, Mr. Kimber is a brand of gun; we each have 1911 .45’s. We also have Smith & Wesson (.38) and Colt (.45) pieces.

When hubby passed away 20 years ago, he had an arsenal. I have 4 son's and put all the guns on the table and they chose (in order of age) which guns they wanted. He also had made his own black powder gun. When he first shot it he was behind a tree and shot with his left hand...he couldn't afford to lose the right if it exploded.. But all the guys are mostly bow and arrow. He also had several including his compound bow that went to the son's.

My colt was the gun my father used and registered for his CCW. Being a retired cop from Detroit, he always had a gun with him no matter where he went...I inherited it in the mid 1980's when he passed. It a nice little carry gun.

I had several goat skulls from when I had the farm, when the grandkids were young they though those skulls were great. I carted them to 2 different homes after I sold the farm and finally put 2 on my ebay site. One was a skull of a young buck with a great set of horns and the other an old doe that died and we buried her.

The micro organisms from burial were able to clean up the area between the bone and the horn so that the horn came off the bone like they use to do to make powder horns. The other one my girlfriend came over and cleaned for me. I have skinned goats but never did a head. I couldn't bring myself to scoop out the eyes so Carole came over and we started a fire in the fire-pit, put in the pit a large kettle and sat around cooking the head. She skinned it first, scooped out the eyes and we boiled it. Every now and then she'd lift it out of the pot and cut off more flesh.

We spent the afternoon laughing ourselves silly and hoping no one pulled into the drive way or they would think we were into some kind of devil ritual..

Cleaning a skull with boiling doesn't allow the horns to be removed from the skull. There is no way to get between the bone and the horn...

The bucks skull I got 68 dollars for on ebay and the doe with the removable horns brought in 32 dollars. I also had a coon skull that went for 3 dollars....

Now I am old and have to wait for something to die on my property. Hopefully never a human...

Gee, that’s really nice. Having heirloom guns is just great.

We used to live in California, and we didn’t have any guns. We were delighted when we moved here and found that you can actually walk into the gun store and walk out with your firearms the same day! We bought all our guns over the months until we felt we had armed ourselves sufficiently. The guns are peppered all over the house here, hidden in interesting places, and all holstered and ready to grab if need be. We have no children, and no visitors (being a couple of hermits), so no one’s in any danger.

LOL when my father lived in Detroit he had guns hidden all over the house also. His big **6 shooter** from his early days on the force (he retired in 1950) was under his recliner he always sat in, when he stood up the gun was hidden under the chair, had one small one taped under the old kitchen table but the funniest one was in a brown grocery bag of used tissue's beside his bed. He had asthma and did a lot of coughing up sputum. No one would go through that bag looking for a gun.

No one in the family even knew about that gun and my sister when over one day to clean the house and threw the bag in the garbage can in the alley...when she got home dad called her and with a little blue language asked her where that bag was, it had his colt in it. He had to go out in the alley and retrieve his gun...

We didn't get him out of detroit until 1980. He was definately one of a kind...
