A Corpus Christi, TX school district has responded to a student's request to create a Gay-Straight Alliance -- by shutting down all extracurricular clubs on campus.
Flour Bluff Intermediate School District's move comes after its high school gained national attention by blocking senior Bianca "Nikki" Peet's request to start a GSA. Hundreds of people have emailed the district on behalf of Peet through a Change.org petition, which was also linked to by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
Texas A&M's GSA, which has been advocating for Peet, had called for a protest Monday, Feburary 28, 2011.
But Flour Bluff ISD Superintendent Julie Carbajal, in comments to The Daily Caller on Friday, said that there is no chance that district will approve the purposed Gay-Straight Alliance. She also has requested that the student group Fellowship of Christian Athletes meet off campus until they can determine if they are adhering to the 2005 school policy that only student groups tied to curricula are allowed.

There should be NO SEX Based clubs at schools period.
Ok, so create a class and call it "biblical history".
“GLSEN”
Where’s the “T”? They’re not ready for that yet hmm? A few more years before you unleash the “T” part on Corpus Christi hmm?
They push us over the cliff one inch at a time.
Athletics is not part of the school curricula?
You do what you got to do.
I saw a flyer in our library this weekend.
It was for regular meetings of LGBTQ Youth AND ELDERS.
That’s “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning” youth. . .
AND ELDERS.
Gee, what do you suppose the ELDERS are there for. Oh, support. RRrrrrright.
Just reject it, and be prepared to back it up with all the sick dirt about Kevin Jennings, the pedophile godfather of the GSA and GLSEN.
Texans should show their support for the district’s decision. Tolerating homosexuality in a secular society shouldn’t turn into promoting homosexuality. Limit clubs to academia, math, English, spelling, science..., and throw in chess for good measure, things that will promote academic achievement. Let kids learn about sex and sexual orientation at home and at church.
Sadly, I don't think that would work. Homosexual activists would probably demand inclusion. They would bring up as bibical history the oft repeated claim by homosexuals of a sexual bond between David and Jonathan. That would be just for starters.
For now, until there's time to regroup, maybe disallowing all clubs is the best approach. Certainly, the homosexuals are not going to stop promoting their agenda.
Texas A&M had given Flour Bluff ISD two options: approve Bianca "Nikki" Peet's request to form a GSA or disallow all extra curricula clubs at Flour Bluff High School. The group says that it is unfortunate that FBISD cannot -- and will not -- see that a GSA is essential to building that bridge of tolerance and unity amongst its students, and it's now brainstorming other ways to help Peet start her club.
So what’s next? Future Pedophiles of America?
My son and daughter are FB graduates, and my wife taught there until I got tired of the saltwater. He has a degree in astrophysics, she in architecture. A really good school system.
Let them have the Gay/Straight alliance as long as they don’t discuss sex.
I am so sick and tired of all this self-centeredness.
That's probably one of the reasons it's being targeted.
That’s pretty sad. The school doesn’t want to handle a little conflict, so it shuts down everybody’s party? Is that really the only solution anybody could think of? If you ask me, shutting down ALL discussions just to avoid having the “gay” discussion gives undue power to gay activist groups.
High school is too old to be sheltering kids from their peers’ free speech, IMO. As long as kids in GSA don’t have orgies or watch porn during meetings, it’s just another political issue club. I guess I’m in a minority here, but I don’t believe in banning an optional, student-run organization just because I don’t agree with its views. Granted, I don’t know enough about GSA to make an informed judgment.
Now, it’s too bad liberal educators don’t take the same view, and keep trying to silence, brainwash or alienate students who oppose homosexuality.
I have no problem with all these clubs being expelled.
If they want to meet somewhere else have at it. High school, college is not the place.
Maybe they should require the club to send home notices and permission slips to parents before they discuss sex, not just one single permission slip, but a permission slip for each time sex is going to be discussed.
I don’t know if your views are minority here or not, but I think that whatever has to be done to stop recruitment of High School kids into the life of the Homosexual is a thing worth doing.
That’s all any club that caters to gays is doing. Recruitment and personal contact with homosexuals for the purpose of having homosexual sex with others.
It’s a dating service for pedophiles.
***They push us over the cliff one inch at a time.***
If they start a club for Gay, Lesbian, etc. then in all fairness they should also start a club for Why I Am Not GLBTS.
Disallow all government schools. Bingo! Problem solved!
How do you know it is a really good school system?
Where are the controlled studies that definitely separate what is learned at home due to the parents and child's **afterschooling** from what is learned in the classroom?
It could be that the parents and kids are doing a really good job of afterschooling. Maybe the school is merely sending home a tuition-free curriculum for the parents and kids to follow and the real hard work is done in afterschooling.
