Go James Franco and 127 hours. What an incredible movie. I liked the Social Network too but 127 hours was better.

Could you imagine what the reaction from the Left would be if Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld handed each other awards all night?

I despise many of these actors and the films they nominate for Oscars. The vast majority of these unworthy actors are nothing but left-wing activists and Dem voters, while many of the films nominated each year push some left-wing idea.

Your “hate the Oscars” thread is cute! I can’t help but look forward to the big show, though.
Some of my guesses:
King’s Speech (best pic)
Toy Story (best anim)
Inception (vis eff)
How to Train Dragon (score)
Alice in Wonderland (costume)
It’s a tough year for predictions.

For the big six, my predictions are:
Colin Firth
Christian Bale
Natalie Portman (with Annette Bening as a possible upset)
Hailee Steinfeld
David Fincher
King's Speech

And as for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, I’m with Bill Murray, Who cares?

Cool thread. I love the academy awards, maybe because I was born in Hollywood. I love the clothes and I love ripping the stupid liberal comments the actors make, and it’s just plain fun to watch.
Sadly, my son has a huge athletic competition during Oscar time today so I have to watch it tomorrow! Bummer.
I assume a lot of the ladies have been scrambling in the past few days to find wraps for their gowns. It’s a beautiful sunny day but freezing (for us) with a high of 50 in LA today, which means that by 3 pm it will be less than 50. Highly unusual for here so we are freezing. Tonight it will get down into the 30s again.

We have seen the following:
The King’s Speech-Excellent. Best Picture, Actor and Supporting Actor.
The Social Network-Very good, not on a par with the one above though.
True Grit-Very good. Best Supporting Actress.
The Black Swan-Didn’t care for it at all.

Hiya DC....thanks for doing this thread. I sit here and watch this year’s show and missed the interaction of a live thread.
On another note, don’t know if you remember that I’m the one compiling the Freep ping list.
Took a bit of thinking but I’ve learned the HTML code for...tada...a table!
Also am categorizing all the ping lists, putting it on, get this, AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET! Add the HTML code, copy, and boom, posts great on the Blog!
Can now sort the entries by any “field” etc.
Anyway, it’ll be easy to maintain. I’ll ping you when it’s done.
Now on thread topic, may I say that Reese Witherspoon’s hair looked quite fake.
More snarky comments to come.
