A well prepared person knows what they need to do... charge in a car, have a solar charger for phones... rig up a small wind generator to charge a 12 volt battery... lot’s of things can be done to charge cell phones in the absence of utility line power.

Sure. Unless the car isn't home. And IF you can afford a generator. Do solar chargers work in the dark? Never had one.
That's awful lot to go through just to ditch a safety net for a questionable one.

I’d never heard of solar cell phone chargers until I got into this thread, so I did some Googleization....from what I see during my very few minutes, most of ‘em have been “discontinued” - apparently due to virtual worthlessness.
