Thanks for your input. Just for fun, here are 2 more songs by the same songwriter. If you comment, please refer to the name of the song since there are now more than one.

If You Let Me is really good. She’s got a great voice. Whoever is playing guitar on these songs has got the tasty fills down pat. Not sure I agree with the gloopy phase shifter on the guitar throughout the song though. The dynamics of some of the instruments don’t sound as controlled as they should be. I think there needs to be more compression/limiting on individual instruments. Also the mix sounds a little dark to me, and I would like to hear more distinct placement of the instruments within the stereo spread (then again I’m listening thru crappy computer monitors). But I like the song and the performance.

Ocean Blue — flirts with being cheezy (canned ocean sounds, the “I don’t want to hurt you” passage in the lyrics) but is still pretty good. Again I’m impressed with her voice. She’s got a great vibrato. She’s like a cross between Carol Carpenter and the girl in Heart (can’t think of her name). In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if she has problems shaking the rap that she doesn’t sound modern enough, that she’s too 70s. I like the period vibe though.
