Here's one very odd and overlooked twist in the exhaustively chronicled shooting at a public event for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords last month: One of the Tucson firemen summoned to the scene refused to go, on political grounds. The emergency worker in question, a 28-year fire department veteran named Mark Ekstrum, retired a few hours afterward, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
The paper reports that in the service logs for Ekstrum's unit, one of his supervisors noted that "he mentioned something about 'political bantering' and he did not want to be part of it" after the call went out for the unit to aid the emergency effort at the scene of the Tucson shooting. After his crew returned, Ekstrum apologized to his coworkers, explaining that the circumstances of the shooting "brought up a lot of anger and made him ineffective as a firefighter." Though the unit accepted Ekstrum's apology, the veteran firefighter immediately retired.

If the unit was not the first to get the call, and was a follow on (as it sounds), then I personally have no problem with him staying behind rather than subject himself to 9 hours of standing around before retiring.
He had the vapors, so he swooned, and then retired, is that it? What a man!
life is upsetting.

I can’t post the link because I’m responding here on my cell phone, but I started a thread about this yesterday.
I did a search and it didn’t show up. Sorry I pissed off the posting police.
Delete it if you want.
Pay no attention to the thread Nazis. Mods are capable of deleting dupes - which your is NOT per my search.
He was suffering from PTSD - pre-traumatic stress disorder.
Seems appropriate. Firefighter is probably not the best career choice for a bed wetting drama queen.
Didn’t mean to come off as the posting police. As mentioned, am posting from my cell phone, which is not easy. So must be brief. Just wanted someone to link the two threads since I can’t t do it myself.
Sigh. Why do people always assume the worst about other people? I thought my intention was clear. Posting from cellbphone, so could not create a link on the two threads about this subject. Most people appreciate it when more than one thread about the same subject are linked.
No problem. My apologies if I came off harsh.
WTH, Bobby?
That's IT!
I'ma notta goin' nowhere with you and...and...I QUIT...

Didn't make it more than 2.3 seconds.
Weird. Just now noticed there is no "I" in FReeper.
I’m thinking the color of the stripe is yellow.
Does it seem to anyone else that libtards are getting a *LOT* crazier really quickly?
