My thoughts are that you are paranoid and using you limited local information to extrapolate over a much larger area.

I live in the Midwest and I haven’t seen any kind of increase in coughing or flu. I haven’t had a flu shot in about 5 years and am doing great. I also have two kids who go to school and are living at home and they haven’t gotten anything. My wife works in a school, and she hasn’t gotten anything. I know of no one that has officially gotten the flu. One worker was out for two days and has a lingering cough, but that is not uncommon in the midwest.

Although, yesterday a number of schools shut down due to massive call ins of teachers being sick. I guess they had to go to Madistan to see a doctor. ( ;

Grand son had a flu shot and then a couple of months later got the flu anyway.

He’s almost over it and I’m in the relapse stage and almost over it. Its hit me hard only these last three days.

Yes, my hubby has been seeing a pulmonologist because of a horrible cough that he’s had for months! He’s had a chest x-ray, and just yesterday a breathing test. Thank goodness the Dr. told him yesterday that his lungs are fine, and the cough is from either allergies or gerd, for which he has medication, and so the dr. increased dosage. But that cough is unbelievable — high-pitched, shrill, and LOUD!

An aunt has been ill with an infection but nothing like what’s being desctibed here. I haven’t had anything worse than a hangover since October, 2009 when I came down with a cold/flu bug that had me down for ten days. A sneeze here, a cough there, that’s about it.

“Either by man or by nature, there’s someting NASTY in the air...”

It’s most likey a natural phenomenon. I’ve heard about pollen alerts in Central FL...some kind of oak tree’s pollen and possibly other tree/plant species in warmer climates of the US’s lower 48 states.

Obama’s CDC ‘released’ the virus to show us we need their health care.

Dude. I hope yer joking. I know these people and 1) They would not be (in ANY way) implementing Obamacare, and 2) Are not the sort of people who would comply with this. Someone would go to the media.

Whatever it is, it’s really nasty. I didn’t realize so many people have it.

I’ve been sick for well over 4 weeks now. Can’t remember ever having such a terrible cold or whatever it is. It’s an upper respiratory illness. No fever, but severe sore throat, sinus infection, and a terrible cough. I finally went to the doctor who put me on augmentin, which seems to have helped a bit.

The sore throat has been so bad that the only thing I can tolerate is crushed ice. I’ve been eating lots of ice cream and lemon ice.

Also, I have zero energy and everything I do is a real effort.

It’s going away, but very slowly. No one else in my house has it.

Two weeks ago yesterday, my 13 year old called me (like he is supposed to) to check in when he got home from school. He said he had a headache. That started it for us. By Friday early a.m. he had a croupy bark and a fever of 103. Took him to the doctor got an antibiotic; an rx cough syrup; and a steroid for the croup.

One week to the hour (last Thursday at work) I started getting an awful headache. Then sore throat; then upper chest congestion. The headache lasted thru Sunday. I spent last Fri and Saturday in bed. Slept both days. I worked Sunday, Monday, but have never been so tired; weak. No stamina.

My son also doesn’t feel ‘right’ yet either. I havnt felt this sick in years.

I normally may have a plain old cold about once every three years. I had one case of old gully washer FLU about 30 yrs. ago. JUST SINCE THE FIRST OF THE YEAR, I have already had two rounds of flu, a month apart and both cases lasting about two weeks and leaving a residual COUGH. The first round was a teeny bit less caustic than the second round. Don’t know what’s the deal; if it’s my immune system or what. (I caught the last round from someone who had had every vaccine imaginable; she worked in the doctor’s office, manifested symptoms the next day, us (husband had it too both times) in about two days.) Don’t know where we picked up the first round.

I know absolutely no one who has been sick this winter. I thought that was weird. Even my husband who tries to get everything hasn’t been sick. I’m at the gym a lot and nobody I know at the gym has been sick either.

Maybe I just live in a healthy area.

Just WOW!!!

Had also been wondering what might be going on. Family members all down the East Coast have been coughing and sneezing since Thanksgiving.

Could it be the weather??????????

Vitamin D3? Yes; but not as consistently as I should. Vitamin C, too, is supposed to help keep it at bay.

I have to take Cacitriol which is active vitamin D. Got sick and was down for the count for two days right after the Super Bowl, then crummy for three more days. Since then, I feel just fine (relatively speaking.) But another gal that was at our Super Bowl party had been sick for four weeks and still trying to get over it. I might have gotten it from her but I got over it quickly and without bronchitis. I swear it’s the vitamin D that’s helping my immune system.

Drippy sinuses since just after Thanksgiving. Same thing last year and the year before. I live in south Florida and just assumed it was because of the colder than usual winters...

Maryland... no one that I know has this type of severe cough/cold thing. However, I saw that Pennsylvania has it... so it will get here. Take care everyone who has it.... honey does soothe a throat.

Two packets of Emergen-C and 7000 IU’s of D3 per day. I ran out a month ago and had to wait for my Vitacost order. When it got to my house, I already had the stomach flu. Since that episode I’ve made sure that I don’t run out.
