Get yourself a dog. They are terrific company, faithful, actually want to be with their master, need you and depend on you for care, food, water, exercise, medical care, etc. Maybe two after awhile.. I have small dog 8 pound poodle and cats. It will change your life for the good.
Get a ‘rescue” from the SPCA ... they are so happy to have a home.
Many are the lives saved by cats and dogs.
