Afraid I will have to disagree with you. FRee trade is not the problem. Govt rules, regulations and tax laws are. That’s whats killing our manufacturing base.
This is most of the problem.....
.....OSHA
.....EPA
.....US Department of Labor
.....Labor Unions
....."Tax the Rich"
.....Lawyers
.....Frivolous Lawsuits
But I have to add the "Three Years and Move-On Manager".
They come in, stir things up, destroy product and process continuity in the name of "change" just to look like they are "doing something", and then they write a new resume and move to another company before the crap hits the fan.
The regulations are part of the Free Trade model. Why else would companies like GE lobby for more govt regulations. Because they know they can open plants in China while their smaller competitors have problems.
The U.S. government aided and abetted, was complicit and winked and nodded as destructive free trade polices were enacted...
The government assigns names to policies which mean just the opposite...Free trade, patriot act, etc...
The insiders running fat corps are the same ones pulling the strings of the corrupt in D.C.
All of the wealthy political insiders, the banksters and fatcorp are all riding in the same limo...
It's the same reason why our borders have been left wide open...Low wage illegal labor by the millions...
The fix is in.
Govt rules are only part of the problem
Greed cannot be ruled out
However, fair trade is much better than FREE trade, and this nation practiced FAIR trade for over a century and did well
