My email to the professors:

Subject: All I need to know about your study...

..I learned from this quote in the press release:

“Whether it’s MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann spitting out his coffee because of some conservative transgression or radio host Michael Savage venomously impugning the character of immigrants, cable television, talk radio and blogs overflow with outrage rhetoric, and even mainstream newspaper columns are not above the fray,” they said.

This single quote is a fine example of “outrage talk” and demonstrates your clear bias.

Keith Olbermann is only reacting to conservative TRANSGRESSIONS (a very loaded term that implies conservatives are GUILTY). Meanwhile, Michael Savage “venomously impugns” the character of immigrants - a statement that implies the conservative is not reacting to anything, but is simply GUILTY.

Couldn’t you even have said “some /alleged/ conservative transgression?” Just to give the *appearance* of impartiality?

Can’t you see your own bias?

Seriously, folks.

Bolobaby, you could also point to their choice of the word “immigrants” instead of “illegal aliens,” or at the very least “illegal immigrants.” To whatever degree Savage engages in “outrage talk,” I think it’s a distortion (as Obama would would say, a funhouse mirror image) to say he blasts immigrants.
