Not to go out on a limb, but if you were broke, should you really have been dining out? ;)
Probably not, but I craved a beer. When I ordered a small, with no food, they knew something was up. It was a microbrewery with outstanding food.
Also, I knew money was coming in. If I wasn’t sure of that, I would have been eating at home, with a menu of rice and coffee.
