“The use of statistics is when this all started going worng”

As opposed to what? Stats work for me if used correctly.. As an MBA student I used stats to project marketing, sales, and outcome. Do you rely on gut reaction like these libs??

There is the key. But I am talking about the use of statistics in research. At most what you get with statistics is another question, it NEVER gives you an answer. It is a tool. I have sat in graduate presentations where the data shows no correlation but then they proceeded to give charts and graphs and discuss cause and effect. And the professors don't say anything, because they don't know anything about statistics. They skated through the statistics courses and don't want to look like the fools they are.

I will also point out that the use of statistics in complex systems like medicine and global environment are worthless. Throw in surveys and business as too complex to use statistics. Statistics was never designed for that but for closed systems. They can't even get a three day weather forecast right. You look at just a few variables out of millions of variables and make a projection and a model. No wonder the model says sea level will rise 99 feet. I used to build model planes but even as a kid, I knew it wasn't real and wouldn't fly. Did a lot of business models that said I could be a millionaire in just a few years. Why didn't I put my money down, because I knew it was just a model and the business world and economics can not be predicted. Learned to listen to my gut, look at history, and do good old fashioned research. Modeling was a good exercise but only to make me think, it never gave me an answer.

I learned statistics doing it by hand when you understood the number. Now days you put it in the computer and you get a number but you don't know what it means, but it is a number and by God, we better worship that number.
