Why don't you do the research and answer the question yourself? If you research and post it I will definitely read your thread.
Because I already know the answer, I want to hear it from you.
Sure they can.
All they have to do is successfully repel invasion and attempts to occupy and subjugate by the hostiles and they can become a free and separate country.
none of which the south was able to do....
Sure. Fine with me.
I’m the farthest thing from a statist you’ll find. You clearly don’t get what I’m talking about at all. That’s the problem with typing as a means of communication.
Short answer: Madison is nuts. He's like most centrists. They think they can split the baby. Sure, we still have states. Neutered ones.
Of course, even Madison will admit that the House is a people's house, and is elected by the people, not the states. Even he can't escape the fact that his system is at minimum PART national. And in practice, with 200+ years to look at, we know its general tendency is to be a national system.
Federalism, in short, means paying our real master AND a subordinate master. Hell, at this point we'd be better off WITHOUT states!
Not exactly. I'll take whatever we can get. There is an amendment process. That seems to be the only avenue available to make the kind of structural changes that are needed. It's also the only way to undo some of the long term damage that has been done by the courts.
I question why you insist on trashing it when you apparently believe there's nothing constructive that can be done to it, today.
"Trashing" is such a loaded term. It's imprecise and unnecessarily emotional. I am analyzing and critiquing the Constitution based on 200 years of data.
Whether you agree with it or not, the 9th and 10th Amendments in particular asserted and reaffirmed what was assumed in the body of the Constitution.
I completely agree with that. Those amendments add no new information on their own. They merely assert or reaffirm principles presumed to be enshrined within the document.
You'll forgive me but I haven't seen what you're suggesting.
I'm suggesting that in the long run, we need something BETTER than the US Constitution and the government it created. But that's a long, long way off. In the meantime, we can play around at the margins, for what it's worth.
Well, you've proven my point. It is this same progressive / revisionist ignorance that has permeated our schools in an attempt to pervert history.
Oh, by the way, men both North and South held slaves. Was it evil yes, was it primarily a “South thing”....no.
Robert E. Lee.....remember the name? Was a big advocate of educating the negro to bolster their status in society.
After the war, during communion service, Lee joined alongside a black congregate to celebrate the Lord's supper. Shocking to some, but to us in the South, Lee was an honorable man.
My GG grandfathers owned plantations in La.and Tenn. After the war, the blacks did not want to leave. This is where they lived, raised their families and worked.
Oh those evil plantation owners, always a whippin the black man into submission. What a lie. This was the exception to the rule.
The history books of today would not teach our children these lil factoids. Might threaten the revisionist agenda.
You know, the same folks that support homosexual lifestyles as an accepted alternative, no moral absolutes.
Constitution...that old piece of paper!
Uh huh.
It's my belief we have the necessary tools within our Constitutional framework to effect a rescue of our republic. It is up to us to clear the cobwebs and redouble our efforts to expose a feral government that has gone off the rails. The only thing lacking is a supply of will to proceed, but we're steadily, if not rapidly, gaining ground as we type. It is also my belief that we don't have a lot of time left to rein in the federales within our Constitutional framework. Two more years of the marxist in the White House and his politburo of apparatchiks may be more than we can recover from before we are only left with Jefferson's remedy of watering the tree of liberty.
Many states as you're aware, who can and will be powerful allies in our rescue efforts have begun to come around. Thanks in no small part I suspect, to an awakening of the people to the excesses of government generally; and more particularly the feral government. May God help us.
What form of amendment(s) would you suggest? Bear in mind it usually takes years, not months, to accomplish. How much time do you think we have? The undocumented marxist in the White House is moving at warp speed. We will either have to catch up or give up. We must find a way to remove this traitor or neuter him or the damage may be irreparable. Do we have the will? He is betting we don't.
Then I assume that you won't have any trouble pointing to some evidence to support that claim.
After the war, during communion service, Lee joined alongside a black congregate to celebrate the Lord's supper. Shocking to some, but to us in the South, Lee was an honorable man.
Yeah, about that story. It first appeared in 1905, at the same time that Virginia was instituting Jim Crow laws. Here's the original story from the August, 1905 edition of "Confederate Veteran":
It was communion day; and when the minister was ready to administer the holy communion, a negro in the church arose and advanced to the communion table. He was tall, well-dressed, and black. This was a great surprise and shock to the communicants and others present. Its effect upon the communicants was startling, and for several moments they retained their seats in solemn silence and did not move, being deeply chagrined at this attempt to inaugurate the "new regime" to offend and humiliate them during their most devoted Church services. Dr. Minnegerode [sic] was evidently embarrassed. The story's not about how racially progressive and tolerant Lee was. It's about how a black man's presence in their church was seen as an "attempt to inaugurate the "new regime" to offend and humiliate them" and how Lee responded to the "provoking and irritating circumstance" of a black man in his church by refusing to acknowledge it. A "kumbaya" moment it ain't.General Robert E. Lee was present, and, ignoring the action and presence of the negro, arose in his usual dignified and self-possessed manner, walked up the aisle to the chancel rail, and reverently knelt down to partake of the communion, and not far from the negro. This lofty conception of duty by Gen. Lee under such provoking and irritating circumstances had a magic effect upon the other communicants (including the writer), who went forward to the communion table.
By this action of Gen. Lee the services were conducted as if the negro had not been present. It was a grand exhibition of superiority shown by a true Christian and great soldier under the most trying and offensive circumstances."
It doesn’t matter. I’m not going to do the tit for tat back and forth thing with a bunch of folks convinced Southern heritage is filled full of hate.
Funny, all the yanks up in the Northeast and liberals out in the West have done so much more to oppress black people.
Didn’t even need a whip, just good ol poverty pimpin legislation.
Your concession is noted.
Uh...ok whatever floats your boat.
Uh...ok whatever floats your boat.
Uh...ok whatever floats your boat.
Aw, now you’re all flustered and posting the same thing three times. It’s okay. I realize that it’s tough when someone rocks your little Lost Cause boat, but accepting that you have a problem is the first step to getting better.
As for amendments, it's pointless to talk about. People are too stupid. It's not going to happen.
The South shall rise again!
Only next time they rise, they shall do so with the aid of the west and the knowledge of the past guiding their spirit of liberty to a well thought out victory.
