Saw one of these tooling around my hometown yesterday.

Wanted to see what you FReeper Motorcycle Hooligans thought about its styling/etc.

I dunno ... seems a little "Spaceman Spiff" to me.

A little too "Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-half-CENtury for me, and my daily driver one of these.

WithOUT the crash bar and extended-to-the-sky trunk. Mine also has a mid-seat 2 position backrest for the driver.

I'll pass on the bike you posted, MF, that thing is way much.

I came across maybe a year or two ago another person wanting to buy a Vision, it may have even been here at FR.

That forum I just posted shows what diehard HD riders think of it, some are truly diehard and patriotic to the NAME and IMAGE.

Its like trying to compare a 1911 to a Glock, I have both.
I work almost a stones throw from a Harley dealership here in Alaska, they wanted in house financing with a higher interest rate than my credit union, they wanted a large down payment.

They were really nice people, but further down the road at the Yamaha dealership they used my credit union, they had zero down and a very low interest rate. I often will not get into Harley discussions but on a rarity I will, I think they are out of touch with the latest technology, they have occasionally advanced like the V-Rod in modern performance areas.

Harley is a name, but like me being a mechanic my whole life I bought Snapon, just the very image of a box full of Snapon tools got me the job, didn’t matter if I knew how to use them, but once for almost a year I had to leave Alaska and worked on a Federal project with off brand tools, I did the project.

And I can say HD has a true history of being American for the most part. But I have also seen and heard of the horror stories of HD bikes and engine longevity. Thus in that respect I spent my money on a metric bike which DOES have better tolerances and longevity something even some HD owners “might” agree upon.

I am not a herd animal but with our ragged economy, high fuel costs and a dangerous political uncertainty its difficult to just reason that decision of what others think about what you buy.

And here is a REAL shocker.....

I OWN a 2005 Pontiac Aztek, bought it for my wife, she has MS, cannot crouch down in a Subaru which was $10K more in price, because people said the Aztek was fugly I got a steal of a bargain on it. Many people will hock the wife and the kids to get a Harley, I will never place myself in a position to be afraid of what to drive, ride or wear, its all about what you like, its far better to be happy on your ride with others mocking or envious than to hate the ride and being part of the herd.

I would buy a Vision because I would be brave enough to do so, its not like buying an electric car, its still a bike, it just has a different style, you can always change it, but if it works then you are ahead of the herd.

LOL!

Having had it for a while now, it’s all power, all the time. The only thing that some people might not like is the sound. I don’t have a big problem with it.

I have people rolling down their windows at stoplights to comment on the bike. Real head-turner.

Couldn’t tell you what kind of Norton, but now you are talking motorcycle.
Lets see drum brakes all around, and the sixties look. At least the foot pegs aren’t in front of the rider.
That alone limits what I want in a cycle. Guess that’s why I own two vintage seventies beemers.

Mine is a '65 Atlas, stock except for a cafe racer tank and seat. Right now she is in a state of disassembly.....(sigh)

My rules for bike aesthetics: wire wheels, no fairings of any kind, foot pegs in the proper location, proper fenders on both wheels, front fork rake as it came from the factory.

If it ain’t a Harley, it aim’t $h!t.

And if it is a Harley, it is shit??

Who am I to argue with you? LOL

What is it about a Harley that 'makes one a man'?

Oh yeah, if I have to ask, I wouldn't understand it anyway....

If you can not handle a real bike that is fine. Ride a rice grinder. I just would be too embarrassed to ever ride another one again. It would be like voting for a democrat. I did it once, but I learned my lesson and will never do it again.

"Real bikes" have parallel twin engines and were/are built under the Union Jack.

(Nomex donned....)

A “real bike”??

My Roadstar has equal or larger dimenstions and higher displacement, better performance, and better reliability than a most Harleys.

In fact, my Roadstar is an improved version of the Harley Heritage.

Bigger. Faster. Stronger. All at a price that doesn’t make the purchaser look foolish.

And my old stock 1987 Kawasaki ZL 1000 would eat any Harley’s lunch for any speed contest and not lose any parts in the process. It was build to compete with the Vmax because Harley wasn’t considered competition in ‘87. Nor would it be today against that same ZL.

It is sad when a rider pins his ego on a brand name and relies on brand name ownership of self esteem and identity.

Yeah. Buy a Harley. Be different. Just like everybody else.

“Real” vs Artificial??

Hey, a rider ought to be proud of his ride, but blind brand loyalty while disparaging all others is rather foolish imo.

Guess Rocket III’s aren’t “real” bikes! LOL!!!

You can ride your rice grinder, I just have too much pride to ride one again. I did it at one time, but that was before I learned better.

Well, I'll agree with the Union flag- but where's the other 1/3rd of your engine? :-)
